Summary: I studied this purchase at stores and online, and settled on this as it was a good value. The box was nearly 100 pounds, which was hard to handle, but the alternative was to ship in two boxes and risk separating them. The product works great, all that was specified, and sounds wonderful. Thank you.
Summary: Tech Level: Engineer Audiophile Level: Medium Pros: - Set up is fairly easy for a system of this complexity - The design looks great, very modern, but not too flashy - The sound quality is stellar for those of us born without freakish bat hearing - Plenty of HDMI inputs and the addition of 4K pass through (4K will use current HDMI standard ports/cables) - Sound presets work well - The sub woofer can be very, very loud if you want it to be - Speakers are light enough to...
Summary: I bought this as someone who's 10+ year old AV receiver didn't have HDMI or even component inputs and the old speakers were shot and the sub had died long ago. So I was in need of replacing everything. There are nicer receivers and better speakers out there but you're not going to get them for this price and many of the negative reviews are simply people who want the sound of a bigger budget system.
Summary: Received it about a week ago. Hooked everything up via the instruction manual. Started playing a DVD got about 10 minutes into the movie and I heard a fuzzy sound coming from the speakers. Then the receiver shut off completely. Trying to power it back up it blinks about 10 times and does nothing. Called tech support and my options are to either send it to Yamaha on my dime or bring it to the nearest service center.
Summary: UPDATED...! after a week of freaking out i finally manage to get the better setting. the YAMAHA CUSTOMER SERVICE turn out to be better in email and Facebook. they work really well, and fast...! the sound is very smooth, the subwoofer is an active sub so you can adjust the bass level...! nice..!!! the system can handle the high frequency really well, i played various music from celine dion to hiphop... and sounds really gooooodd...
Summary: I am a lifelong Yamaha fan. I used to sell AV equipment for a living and Yamaha has always featured solid construction and a fabulous sound for the price point, regardless of the price point. They build high end musical instruments so they know what horns, drums and guitars sound like. This is my first new Yamaha unit in over 15 years. I choose to go with a AV-Speaker package because I have never owned a match set and I wanted to experience the effect. 1.
Summary: I never thought Yamaha to be much of a top contender in home audio compared to brands like Bose, Klipsch, or Polk until a friend of mine from work, who is a real audiophile, was helping me in finding a home theater system to purchase. He suggested this one given the size of my apartment and it's simplicity and I am glad I went by his suggestion. The sound quality is amazing even with the subwoofer set at just below half.
