Summary: This soundbar was easy to "install" with a single optical cable to the television. The wireless subwoofer paired quickly with the soundbar. The sound is much better than that from the TV speakers and the unit actually produces a reasonable "surround" effect. Of course to get superior surround sound effects and deep bass, a multispeaker (5.1, 7.1 or 7.2) system with a good receiver would be necessary. Overall my wife and I were pleased with this soundbar and subwoofer.
Summary: I bought this because I wanted to add some bass to my living room entertainment setup for watching movies and playing video games. I made the mistake of assuming optical audio out was a standard feature of HD televisions, so I had to buy some extra adapters to get this to work for the two devices I wanted to hook up. One device has coaxial S/PDIF (DVD player) and the other has HDMI (Wii U).
Summary: This unit sounds decent, but nothing special. I can't tell if the enhancement and clarity filters are working or not, but the surround effect definitely isn't. Setup is a breeze, so that's a plus. The big problem is that it isn't terribly reliable. The sub will drop offline for no reason, necessitating a shutdown & unplug to get it running again. And the main power will also just randomly quit, again for no reason. This happens 1-2x/day and is quite irritating.

Summary: It worked right our of the box and sounded quite good. Next day went to turn it on and the green powere LED just blinked a few times and the unit shut off. Tried the instruction manual to reboot and did the usual 'unplug and wait 5 min before plugging in again' same issue. After several years this is the only item I have ever had to return to Amazon. I like Yamaha but think I will try and different make/model for its replacement.

Summary: Originally purchased for living room but the soundbar could not produce enough sound there. Totally my fault for not taking into consideration the size of the room. Moved the soundbar into the bedroom and "let there be sound" happened.
