  • Summary: i brought this and am quite pleased with it, i also thought it was a 500w rms system
  • Pros: cheap, i paid $400
  • Cons: subwoofer cable isnt long enough and when i play xbox or ps2 through the system it seems to not be as loud so i have to turn it up to -20.0 DB

  • Summary: Some of the comments below are Bombay or India specific - from a first time 5.1 channel system user in Bombay - been using it only for 4-5 days. I brought the system after hearing the sound in sound room of a shop - that was awesome, though I have not been able to come to anything near that in my home setup yet! If you are buying in India, beware the first price quote will often be Rs 25k+; negotiate, & you can get it for ~20k.
  • Pros: Good sound Night mode is interesting, but I wish I could tell the system to switch it on automatically between 10 pm & 7 am, rather than having to tell it every day! Cinema DSP give very good effect, though constant switching between music, sports, & movie mode gets tiresome - particularly when watching Hindi movies that are normally musicals, & when changing TV channels.
  • Cons: India specific: Try plugging the power sockets of receiver & woofer into your wall outlet. They don't go! Most Indian homes will not accept the kind of plugs YHT-175 comes with. Run to your neighborhood computer shop, & buy a "spike guard" (a kind of extension cord) that accepts many kinds of power plugs. Cost ~Rs 100 in B'by. Salesman made me understand it is a 600 W RMS system, & this CNET review doesn't dispel the notion. Truth is: receiver is 600W, but the speaker...
