Summary: I wanted an inexpensive surround sound system for a spare room that would sound halfway decent and have sufficient digital inputs to handle my TV, cable box, DVD player, CD player, and PS3. This system fit the bill in every way. While I wouldn't use it for my main home theater setup, it's doing a great job where I have it. The bonus is that I paid far less than I expected for this type of system. No regrets here.
Summary: Purchased these a few days ago. Seller received this with their tv purchase, later upgraded to a Bose and tucked these away. Lucky me, they posted it on craigslist and I scooped it up for a whopping $100. This unit is awesome. It really blew me away how good it sounded. Bass is good and satellite speakers are very crisp. If I was to pay in the $200 neighborhood, I wouldn't be disappointed still.
Summary: Extremely poor quality, tinny speakers. Worst center speaker on the face of the Earth. NO HEADPHONE PORT. <<< (In an AV system!?!?!) NO COMPONENT OR COMPOSITE PORTS Go for the 250 Onkyo on sale on Amazon instead. It's a good value and reasonably featured.
Summary: I purchased this system a few years ago as I was trying to complete a descent "budget friendly" entertainment room in my basement. I was impressed with this thing right out of the box. The Auto calibration works great. I had to tweak a few things here and there - but overall it worked great. I actually am posing a question to those that purchased this in the past.
Summary: I purchased this system ~3 years ago along with a Samsung TOC 46" LCD and dealt with a few limitations which I will mention. I have recently began upgrading the stereo components to match my new 92" theater screen. Initially I was very impressed with the simplicity of the setup with an all HDMI setup limiting the need to run a bunch of connections to the TV. Instead only one cable is needed to connect to the display (TV/projector).
Summary: I bought 2 of these audio systems to use in my home and couldn't be more happy. The sound quality is incredible and they can really pump out the power if you want a theater experience. I would buy another one of these if I had somewhere to put it.
Summary: Hard to beat for the money. I have two of these systems, one in my living room and one in a bedroom. I replaced the center channel speaker on both of them with a higher quality speaker. Sound is now near perfect. The original speaker is just too small to faithfully reproduce the center channel. There's also plenty of bass from the non-powered subwoofer. HDMI switching works flawlessly and is a main selling point of this unit.
Summary: What I like about this equipment is the size of the speakers and the HDMI input and output, for the price if you are looking for a compliment to your flat screen tv for a medium room this is a very good alternative. Also added a Universal WR7 remote control to the mix and have roku, dtv, audio and tv working as a single unit.
Summary: I was really surprised how easy it was to set up- everything is color coded. It has 3 HDMI inputs (which are labled dvd, blu ray etc, but you can use them for whatever you like) which made it easy to connect my PS3 and Roku Player! I was afraid of the speakers looking like an eyesore, but they really just disappear in the room. Sounds pretty good- not the best I've heard, it's possible I may need to recalibrate a bit- it's a steal at the price.
