The Sony HT-SS2000 is a slim-line home theater system that caters to owners of other Sony electronic products. The remote control can be programmed to work with several other Sony devices, but not devices from other manufacturers. In addition, the HDMI connections provide extra features, such as BRAVIA Theater Sync, when used with Sony TVs and Blu-ray players. Of course, the manual mentions that only Sony HDMI cables are recommended, but in reality this unit can be used... Read more

  2. Sony HT-SS2000 Home Theater System

So, if you are looking for a basic system to hook your Sony components into, then the HT-SS2000 might be for you. There are several other HTiBs in this price class that have more features or might sound better, but they may not be as easy to integrate with an all-Sony setup. And, if you really want some excellent sound to go with that great, new image, then we would recommend checking into separate components. For the die-hard Sony fans, you'll certainly want to check... Well I did not do enough research before buying this system I got too caught up in its HDMI capability. Which it has 3 in 1 out and is nice for connecting your HD equipment, and this system is a pretty clear sounding system for movies and TV shows. But overall, it just doesn't have the power or bass I expected. Also it claims to be ipod/mp3 player ready via its digital media port yet you have to buy a $100 Dock from sony. No other brand(that I know of or found) even... Read more

Pros: 3 HDMI inputs is a huge plus especially if you have a blu-ray player to go with the system. The sound is excellent and I highly recommend this product if you want to set it up in a small to medium sized room. Cons: Small speakers (only suitable for small to mid-sized rooms), No headphone jack, auto-calibration is nice to have, but not too accurate, and their is no support for Dolby True-HD so this receiver won't produce audio for blu-ray movies at it's full... This ROCKS the house! Incredible surround sound from a small set-up. Got mine for $329.99 . Hooked it up to my PS3 and Sony Bravia 40" LCD and haven't gone out to the movies since then. Great system for smaller rooms. (I have mine in a 10' x 12' room). Definitely recommended, although you might only find the HT-SS2300 now. Same product with different sized center speaker. Read more

This is a great HT in a box choice if you have multiple HDMI sources you would like to control through one unit. 3 HDMI inputs all switched through the unit is the big selling point. Unfortunately, if you have any legacy equipment - perhaps an old DVD ... Read more
