Awesome system , un matched value, well exceeded my expectations
6 November 2014
Summary: Love this system...great sound quality at low volume or high. The wireless sub is the only way to go, and the price for this kind of sound quality is so low I feel like I stole it. Would have expected to pay twice the price once I heard it !! Really fills the room , hell the house ! , makes me feel like I'm sitting in the middle of a theater.
Summary: I don't care if this is the "old version" or lacks xyz feature...spent 3 months researching sound bars, surround sound systems, receivers, BR players, et al. My decade old, 1000 Watt JVC SS System finally bought the farm. After reading thousands of reviews and going to a dozen stores to listen in person, this item seemed to be the best option for 1) Multiple HDMI inputs, and 2) Excellent Surround Sound.
Summary: Needed something better than the sound from my flat screen speakers and this did the trick . Granted its not the same as a good surround sound system but it does the job well. Very easy to setup and use and for us having the fm tuner built in was a plus. I am happy with it.
DO NOT buy something that lacks Dolby 5.1 capabilities. Period.

Summary: Well, i blame my own stupidity and not fully researching the importance for Dolby 5.1. When I purchased it, I believe it was just over $300 and it was shortly after buying a 65" Bravia, a top of the line Blue Ray, etc... Anyway, I didm;t realize just how important Dolby 5.1 was until I got the new update for Netflix.
Summary: This little bar adds some MASSIVE sound to my tv. There is a posting on here that will give you some basic setup guidelines and I used that info. It will give you some good starting points. It is not that difficult to adjust once you play around a little bit, but follow the persons shortcut they posted to save you a ton of time by not reading the manual. LOL I did! I have to say it packs a HUGE punch and we dont even see it.
Summary: Powerful bass and clean highs. Probably best for a smaller room since you're only getting a sound bar and sub woofer, but power and sound are great. Good product from a reputable company. I'm pleased to say the least. I have this setup in my bedroom (20' X 20') and it sounds great. I only go up to 25% when I want it LOUD...
Sony HTCT550W 3D Sound Bar Home Theater System with Wireless Subwoofer
Coliwabl "coliwabl", Amazon
18 June 2013
Summary: Although the HTCT550W does not perform as well as my 7.1 surround system, it is not designed to do so. That said, it does exactly what I was expecting and maybe even a little more. Adjusting the base, treble, and subwoofer are easy. I did have some difficulty with the set up in order to make the Bravia Sync work properly but once the right connections were made, it was great. For anyone looking for a rather easy system to use for a small room like a den, etc.
Summary: Wouldnt say the sound is awesome with all caps, but it works for what it is. The receiver works well and the media link to your other media devices is perfect for all your sony stuff (and works with my sharp tv also). Again, sound is good but not great. It is clear but sounds almost shallow rather than round and robust. Still worth it in the end though...
Summary: I love sound bars. This is my second one from Sony. My first was the smaller version with only the subwoffer and the sound bar. This one has an outboard amp and although I really love the sound...it sometimes does not come on. It seems that there is some setting btw the pc of equipment, the amp and the t.v. that affects the powering up on occasion (it has happened 3 times and all 3 were when I swapped out eq or made changes to the way all components are set up.
