The Sony Sound Bar HT-CT100 is an excellent choice if you’re looking to add good sound to your current system but don’t have the room for a full blown home theater system. It provides enough connections for a small system, and is a nice improvement over the stock speakers of the TV. In addition it can be used as sort of a splitter, or a way to add more devices to your system, you can hook three HDMI components to the HT-CT100 and select which you want to use. Read more

I play video games for relaxation. My work is tedious and while it pays well, I appreciate my down time. I have an Xbox connected to my Sony HDTV. The small Xbox speakers are good in a pinch. I heard about the new Sony 3.1-Channel system with 3-HDMI inputs and 1-HDMI output and I jumped for it. The cost of the Sony HT-CT100 at my local discount retailer was only $289 with free shipping from their warehouse. The system is light weight, so it is easy to tote home. Read more

The options to connect this HT are totally confusing and seem too complicated. The directions seem to say the HDMI cable alone does not do the job, you also need the RCA connectors. That's the way the instruction book reads. If that's so, there are way too many connections necessary. Read more

Well all in all it's a pretty good product, but takes awhile to set up right. The biggest problem I have against this is, there are no channels in back of the bar to run the TVs wires through it. When you hang the TV on the wall and the sound bar below it and don't want to fish walls, it makes it a little hard. Read more

The speakers in the audio of my new hi-def TV are poor while the electronics are fine. Was able to get good audio thru using the Auxiliary input on a Bose radio. Replaced that set-up with the Sony Home Theater. Ease of installation about the same with either arrangement, but Bose remote smaller, simpler and much more convenient.Sony less expensive than Bose. Sony HT-CT100

The HT-CT100 is a soundbar home theater system from Sony composed of a slim main speaker and a dedicated subwoofer. With a Sony S-Master digital amplifier, HDMI connectivity (3 inputs and 1 output) and digital audio inputs, the Sony HT-CT100 eliminates the need for a separate audio-video receiver.

The system’s soundbar is a bass-reflex, magnetically shielded main speaker measuring approximately 31.5 x 2.7 x 2.6 inches (W x H x D). The separate bass reflex subwoofer, also magnetically shielded, measures 6.3 x 9.7 x 14.2 inches (W x H x D).

The S-Master amplifier supplies 250 watts RMS (50 watts x 3 plus 100 watts for the subwoofer) of total power. The system features Dolby Digital, Dolby ProLogic and DTS decoders. With Sony’s S-Force surround technology, surround sound is produced from just the soundbar. Unlike other soundbars, the HT-CT100 does not bounce sound off of walls to simulate surround sound; it instead uses advanced digital processing to produce rear sounds.

Setting up the HT-CT100 is made simple via Sony’s Digital Cinema Auto Calibration and the included microphone. The HT-CT100 also gives the user 6 sound modes to choose from: AFD, Cinema, Sports, Game, Music and Personal Audio.

The Sony HT-CT100 features HDMI Active Intelligence to easily switch between different components such as a Blu-ray player and a next-gen gaming console. The system also offers Linear Pulse Code Modulated Audio (LPCM) playback through HDMI.

Other notable features of the HT-CT100 include Sony’s Digital Media Port, Bravia Sync and Portable Audio Enhancer technologies.
