Summary: I've had this set since 2005. So now, in 2013, the only useful input is SAT, which is this unit's only Optical Input. But yet I stick by the DAV-LF1. I do have a setup I just built in December 2012, which includes a Sharp LC-80LE844U, Onkyo TX-NR616 Receiver, Med8er 1000X3D, ARIA IC614 speakers, and...
Summary: I made the HUGE mistake of purchasing a similar system (DAV-LF1H, the same except it has an HDMI output and it's more expensive) because I wanted a small, good looking home theater system for our bedroom.
Summary: And that spear is wma format music. Everything else was good, up to the snuff, but once I found out Sony's products do not accept wma format, I decided to "dump the baby". What a stupid, or arrogant company Sony is!
For Home Theater use. Audiophiles beware-No Tone or EQ Settings.

Summary: I was excited to unpack this system and give it a try. After set up I played a new remixed SACD (Super-Audio CD) of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon recorded in 5.1 The sound was very disappointing, all mid-range, poor high-end and minimal bass.
Summary: First, It is the best HTS I have heard in long time. It is super sleek. Easy hook up. The DVD/CD player has the best design with touch screen controls and cool blue lights. The remote control receiver is in the center speaker - so it doesn't matter where you put the DVD/CD player.
Summary: This is one of the finest SONY products I have purchased in my 35 years of using SONY stuff. . . . The heavy construction of the speakers and DVD console is not only impressive looking, it is of the highest quality materials and production I have every acquired from any manufacturer in any home...
Summary: There are obviously many surround sound systems available on the market. So the first thing I did is to figure out my most important criteria. For me, the top 2 criteria are (1) Wow factor look, (2) Wireless surround rear speakers. I have owned this unit for 6 months.
Excerpt: I purchased this system to add to my plasma, wanting to cut down on wires and bulk. The rear speakers are wireless to the front but must connect to each other , which I feel is a minus point. All the connections are made on the sub-woofer / amplifier, which keeps everything neat.
Pros: very sleek and stylish, easy to use and great quality sound
Cons: rather expensive and wireless rear speakers are not really wireless
