Summary: At full volume we could still talk over it. It would get to an acceptable level for a movie at 70. If we had a party or even just 2 or 3 couples over, we would never be able to hear it. Very Dissappointed and thinking about just selling it new in open box for a loss.
Summary: .. the only drawback to this unit that I have found after 2 years of ownership is that the DVD portion of the unit tends to die quickly. I was smart when I got it and took the 5 year warranty offered at the local Sony Outlet store, so I just need to make time to get it repaired. With that noted, I have been extremely satisfied with the audio performance of this unit.
Summary: This is a great little surround sound system when you cannot conceal speakers in your walls or ceiling and you don't want to see big speakers around your room. The sound is extremely good especially given the size of the satellite speakers. For these reasons it fits our purpose. We are very satisfied with this system and it will replace our bedroom system when we replace this in our living room with another system.
Summary: I purchased this system (actually, two of them) about three years ago for the sole purpose of harvesting the speakers to use with my Sony DA5300ES A/V receiver. At the time, I was running limited space in my room, and wanted high impact speakers that wouldn't take a lot of space. Well, I have to say that these speakers are amazing! They completely live up to the hype given, and really are a masterpiece of Sony engineering. Now, for the solid unfortunate truth...
Summary: I've had my system for more than a year. I was initially skeptical before I bought the system because of the extremely small size of the speakers. However, I discovered that the sound quality is great. The bass is deep, and midrange and treble are very clear and distinct. I actually think it sounds much better than the Bose system I have in my den. Movies look great with my Sony Bravia. Can't say much about the remote.
Summary: Great upper mid level, out of the box system, for the novice audiophile. Fairly simple set up which would be even easier provided you pair with a Sony Bravia t.v. The tiny satellite speakers are decieving considering the amount of sound they produce.
Summary: I have read many reviews about this system. The one common problem is the volume. There is a way to increase the volume to each speaker. Here are the steps: 1. The Sony system must be in DVD mode. 2. Press the DISPLAY button on the remote when DVD is not playing. 3. Choose SETUP (the red tool box) 4. Choose CUSTOM 5. Choose SPEAKER SETUP 6. Choose TEST TONE 7. Select ON.
Summary: Mine arrived yesterday, so these are initial thoughts formed over the course of an afternoon. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: 1) Design The system is beautiful. The receiver / "control unit is a smooth, glossy black with only two tactile buttons. All the other buttons are touch sensitive and disappear completely when the device is turned off.
