Summary: This is a great system. I especially enjoy the wireless transmission between three separate sound parts that can be set up in any ideal combination around the room. My only regret; not getting a blue-ray with the system. But that's no fault of the system or manufacturer!
Summary: Original unit was destroyed by lightning - all the accessories survived in great shape. This unit is installed as a direct replacement - and for much less than the original cost. All the connectors and wiring matched right up. I used the paring instructions in the manual to connect to the rear-room wireless amp and it was done!
Summary: I purchased this system mainly because I wanted 5.1 sound for my gaming systems, and dvd/bd. The fact that the rear speakers were wireless and it comes with a separate little s-air unit was a bonus for me. Let me talk about the good points first. The setup was pretty simple. The manual is not the best but adequate to get the job done.
Summary: This system is very good for the price. But we used it to replace a Bose 3-2-1 Series II system, and we're missing the Bose sound quality -- not a fair comparison, I realize. The surround speakers, in particular, just don't have enough umph to make the sound as present as we'd hoped. And audiophiles won't be impressed, I'm sure. Probably most annoying was our discovery that the surround speakers are not, in fact, wireless.
Summary: I bought this home theater after doing some research and reading all the positive reviews on this page..... I had no problem setting everything up as shown in the user manual that came with the box. It took me over an hour and a half but the best part was that the whole setup worked without any problems whatsoever. I was replacing my Panasonic home theater which had given me too many problems in the past so I wasnt expecting the setup to be this smooth.
Summary: For the average joe this stereo more than delivers. Its simple color coded wires will make setup a breeze. By the way, the stereo sounds great. It was cheap in price and offers enough features for an average stereo user.
Summary: As a musician, and a recording engineer, I have some well-trained ears. While this system would sound great to someone who's never owned a surround sound system before, if you're someone who's got an ear for sound, then this system will be a little disappointing. While it does provide decent 5.1 sound, it seems to be lacking in the proper amount of head room required to get the job done.
Summary: System sounds great; however, if one would like to extend a speaker further out into a room or place it on a wall... forget it. It appears the Sony AV speaker connectors are unique to the AV package deals. No company sells the unique connectors. If one of 6 connectors break or if planning to upgrade or extend the wire beyond the 15 foot range... forget it. It has been one frustration after another. I've contacted Sony and several independent electronics stores.
