Summary: Bought today and its going straight back. Trust me there are better systems out there that can handle sound from your tv ! Its just so bad a system, its beyond belief. It will work with your tv, but its not a simple connection. My advice is to get a system with optics.
Summary: I went to buy the DAVDZ-260 from Argos, who seemed to be the only place stocking it but was presented with the DAVDZ-280. Great my wife said, the £250 version for only £147! Oh No I said, not so great, I don't want it! Why, my wife said? Because, I said, it has NO CONNECTIONS to plug anything into it? So? My wife said. So, I said, you cannot plug Sky, or anything else into it to get surround sound! All you can do is watch a DVD in surround sound and NOTHING ELSE!
Summary: Bought the Sony Bravia KDL40W5500U TV along with this as part of a package deal. Guess what. Doesn't work with the TV, and even better is NOT a Home Cinema System, its a DVD player with speakers that won't accept the TV as an input source!
Summary: i have an older dav260 . i highly recommend it. there is lots of good reviews of it on here and so you would think sony would only make it better. no they made it worse . i really cant understand some companies, but sony have taken the optical port out . meaning no surround for ps3, xbox 360 , bluray player . so if you buy this and then you decide that you want to upgrade and get a blu ray player , then your not going to be able to plug it in .
High Quality But Useless As It Has No Inputs (WARNING)

Summary: The Sony Speakers and Subwoofer look fabulous, I love the piano black finish it goes so well with a Piano Black TV. However, this product is not worth buying unless you buy it just to have 5.1 Surround whilst watching DVD's and I will tell you why: Pro's: + High Quality Material + 850W Output + Good Bass + Easy to Set up + DVD Upscaler is decent + iPod Docking Station Cons: - Not compatible with anything other than itself (NO INPUTS AT ALL# - Sound can be very tinny -...
Summary: Like I said in the title this has no optical input whatsoever so if your buying this for the purpose of connecting your Xbox 360/PS3 (or anything else for that matter) your stuffed. I cannot understand why Sony has decided gimp this player by taking the optical connection out. It was on the older cheaper model. Apart from that, picture quality is great and is very stylish. Buy with caution.
Summary: I walked into my local shop and took pity on the retailer and paid £20 more than the Amazon price. Unboxed the DZ280 Sony DAV-DZ 280 B schwarz last night and it works beautifully with DVD. The I-player connectivity and USB facility are real winners. BUT BEWARE. OK I have only been trying for 12 hours but I cannot get any sound when using the DZ280 in TV mode. This means I can only use the DZ280 for DVD and music. I want to hear the TV, too.
