Summary: I've had this reciever for over a year and at first i really liked it. The reciever itself has everything i need including a couple optical inputs and hdmi switching abilitys. So the reciever i really liked, but the speakers are much too small and don't provide good enough sound quality. I upgraded them to Polk R50's and love them, the subwoofer is very very weak.. i replaced that with a BIC H100.
Summary: This system was easy to install and setup. I have it in a 20' x 20' room and it sounds great for listening to music at normal volumes and also for watching movies. It is a great value for the money.
Summary: I was needing a new surround sound system with HDMI passthrough. I found this Sony; and since my TV is Sony, I assumed it would work together nicely. They do. However... The speaker setup is "weird" - jazz, concert hall, etc. What?? The subwoofer is too boomy. I have since replaced it with custom built sub which shakes my living room, but I can still hear people talking. The surround-ness of this system is less noticeable than previous system.
Summary: Extrememly satisfied with this home theater system. Had to look up a few things on line but all in all very easy to set up and very easy on the ears! Bass is perfect. Surround is perfect. Has many different settings and all of them are really cool. (you have to go in and turn up the volume on the small speakers, they are set to 0 as default) Replaced wimpy speaker wire with 22 guage. Would recommend this system to all.
Summary: More than a month now with this system and it is awsome. Good quality sound, the auto calibration is excellent and the inputs and outputs are a good choice. The only drawback is that the 2HDMI inputs and 1 output is just a passtrough, it doesnt take the audio from the hdmi, so if you want the digital audio from a dvd or ps3, you will have to hook them up via coaxial or optical. But for its price is the best thing you can get with a HDMI socket.
Summary: Pro's: * The receiver has a very nice feature set, particularly considering the pricerange. HDMI switching is very useful. * Adequate power for a small - midsize room (for reference, my living room is 17' x 17'). Con's: * Receiver doesn't decode audio information from HDMI signal, making it necessary to run Optical or Digital Coax to transmit the audio signal. * No analog --> digital conversion, but that's to be expected in this pricerange.

Summary: This is a terrific value on an entry-level HDMI-based home theater system. A small but telling detail: I appreciate how every knob on the front of the unit is a different shape and size, and is spaced just far enough apart so you quickly learn its role. Yes, I use a remote for the most part, but it's still good design. The knobs feel right, too.
Inexpensive, easy way to turn your living room into a movie theater...

Summary: I got this item from Amazon when it was back ordered, but when it was available it shipped (for free!) on Saturday and I received it on Monday! If you are looking for an easy, inexpensive way to enhance your TV and movie watching, this is the best product to get. The system has PLENTY of power to shake the house if you want it to (200W 8" subwoofer with its own power cord), and it takes all of a half hour to set up.
Summary: Although I'm no audiophile, this system sounds great. The auto-setup function made calibrating the speakers a five-minute breeze. Even though the manual is quite thick and laid out in a hard-to-read and confusing manner, setting up the inputs to all of my devices only took about half-an-hour (that is NOT counting the two hours I spent trying to decipher the manual.
