Features

The Sony BDV-E500W is a 5.1-channel Blu-ray Disc home theater system that is BD-Live capable and supports the latest advanced audio codecs. The BDV-E500W features the S-AIR system that supports wireless audio capabilities. Sony’s S-AIR technology transmits audio up to 164 feet from the main system to wireless rear speakers for simple surround sound (signal and sound quality may vary) or up to 10 individual S-AIR AirStation audio devices (sold separately) throughout the home. It also features Sony’s Digital Media Port, for control and connectivity options for music playback through various accessories (iPod® cradle or optional Network Walkman™ cradle), a PC client device and a Bluetooth® adapter (each sold separately). The system features Sony BRAVIA® Sync™ technology for operation with one-button command of compatible home theater components through HDMI, Xross Media Bar™ graphic user interface for menu navigation, Precision Drive technology, Precision Cinema Upscaling technology and a USB port that allows users to add their external flash memory for BD-Live features. The unit ships with a set-up DVD for step-by-step instruction on initial set up process.

  • Are the rear speakers really wireless?

    Hi, I have this system. It seems that the rear speakers are NOT truly wireless. I connect them to a rear sourround receiver and then the rear speakers work. Is this really the case? Thanks for your help.

    The wireless receiver gets audio signal with no connection to main unit, but rear speakers ARE wired to the wireless receiver. The advantage- no need to run wires for rear speakers from front to back of room. Hope this answers your
