Summary: I needed a sound bar with a wireless sub. This unit does a solid job. The sound took a little bit to get use to meaning that I had to find the right sound profile to match what I was viewing but I've grown to really enjoy this sound bar. This is huge step up from your tv's speakers. No doubt! At the time, I really wanted a Bose 3,2,1 but I elected not to because of price and lack of a wireless sub.
Summary: We have a 47 inch samsung hdtv and the soundbar is a big improvement over the tv speakers. The biggest reason we bought the HW-D550 was the wireless subwolfer. There are a couple of things we don't like. we have to have it louder than we really like to hear subwolfer and it will turn off with our tv remote but will not turn on.
Summary: I've had this for over a year now and it sounds good. I'm a producer and engineer with over two dozen album credits and a career in music that goes back to the 70s. I told my wife I wanted something that sounded good, wasn't obtrusive and was easy to work with (fewer remotes). I got two out of three the first day we had this system. The soundbar is EXACTLY the same width as my Samsung TV and we bought it with along with brackets to mount it on the screen.
Summary: Is this soundbar better than the built in speakers in most TVs? Absolutely. The difference is obvious and a vast improvement over what the TV can produce. Does it produce the same sound quality as a full-blown 5.1 home theater system? Of course not, but at a lower price point, with fewer components and wires to deal with, this soundbar is an excellent compromise between these two.
Summary: I originally purchased the Samsung Electronics HT-D550 Home Theater System for my Samsung UN65D8000 65-Inch 1080p 240Hz 3D LED HDTV. The HT-D550 front speakers were at best mediocre and the center and surround sound did not work. I called Amazon to return the home theater system and then purchased this unit which was delivered the next day.
Better than I had planned, not quite as good as I hoped...

Summary: My "TV" is controlled by a new mac mini running Windows 7 media center. I've been using home theater PC's since 1998 when I got my first HDTV, so for the last 10 years I've just been using the best PC speakers I could find. I've gone through 2.1, 5.1, and 7.1 systems, but always got fed up with the cables for the rear channels. So I finally gave up, and resigned myself to 2.1 for the last 6 or 8 years. My most recent speakers actually impressed me, the Logitech Z-2300's.
Summary: I love the system once I figured out how to set it up. The instructions are not helpful, in fact, they describe the system operation opposite of reality. It's all about the wiring. The system comes with a Red/White RCA wire that merges to a 1/8" minijack. It also comes with a special HDMI wire with a mini HDMI on one side.
