Summary: I was very excited to receive my package and begin enjoying the sound from this product. The first week was flawless and the sound was surprisingly good to come from a single source. The sub linked up and worked quite well and had better than average sound as well. However, after only two weeks of ownership the sub will link up and loose its link several times during the day. And yes there is a noticable difference.
Summary: Bought this sound bar for a friend that just had to have Samsung. I installed it with no problem, but you can not use just on remote to control it even with a Samsung TV. It turns off with the remote, but it will not turn it on. Do yourself a favor and buy a Boston Acoustics Tvee25. It will learn your TV remote and turns on and off with just one remote, and sounds so much better.
Summary: We got this refurbished for about $250. It's super annoying to setup if you have Verizon Fios...you need to order extra HDMI/mini-HDMI cables, or optical cables, if you want the best quality video/sound. And the setup is kind of confusing...I spent hours looking up info and talking to a customer service person.
Summary: Amazingly, even though most of the useful TV remote features work when using Anynet+ with the ARC HDMI connection (including turning the HW-D550 off), Samsung inexplicably left turning the sound bar on out of the feature set. This has to be one of the dumbest oversights I've ever seen with a product like this.
Summary: Ok...really liked the unit when I was setting it up and it was pretty simple to get everything hooked up to the TV. After playing with the settings a little you definitely have to turn the sub up to +6 and overall it had a really good sound as we watched Fast Five on Blu ray. Waking up the next morning I turned on the system again and the sound bar wasn't working and showed a Prot!
Summary: really nothing to write home about. virtual sound simulation is marginal. subwoofer output is also marginal so if you need in-your-face bass slams you would be disappointed. the Toslink (Optical) connector's angle and placement are just designed WRONG. i would say most Optical cables will be difficult to connect as the 'angle' of the input Toslink connectors (there are 2) is all WRONG.
Summary: First this system's input/output using HDMI is a MINI-HDMI connection (so 3D video pass through is not supported, not required for me since I am using on a UNC6500). I was somewhat shocked that there was only 1 mini-HDMI to HDMI cable included in the Box, so you will have to go buy another cable if you want this system to work. Either another Mini-HDMI to HDMI cable OR an optical cable.
