Summary: Sound bar was delivered and just like new as this was purchased refurbished. The soundbar worked awesome!-The subwoofer works but is very weak.I get very little bass at all and I have tried different placements with no results. If you want something that sounds good for an extra bedroom this is ok but I would not recommend for a large room.
Summary: ... especially for the money it cost. Even the ok sound drops out regularly for a sentence or two before it self regulates and regains its composure. It's like listening to a teenage boy. On second thought make it two stars not three. Frankly, it's pretty disappointing. Hope Bezos' product at the Washington Post is better than most of the ones I've bought on Amazon. But I doubt they will be.
Summary: I needed a sound bar with a wireless sub. This unit does a solid job. The sound took a little bit to get use to meaning that I had to find the right sound profile to match what I was viewing but I've grown to really enjoy this sound bar. This is huge step up from your tv's speakers. No doubt! At the time, I really wanted a Bose 3,2,1 but I elected not to because of price and lack of a wireless sub.
Summary: We have a 47 inch samsung hdtv and the soundbar is a big improvement over the tv speakers. The biggest reason we bought the HW-D550 was the wireless subwolfer. There are a couple of things we don't like. we have to have it louder than we really like to hear subwolfer and it will turn off with our tv remote but will not turn on.
Summary: My purchase of this device was a complete failure they say that it is a product Samsung refurb ... but it does not work and lost my money....never more big outlet or Sansung refurbished products...are fouls!!!!!!!
Not a home theater, but superior to the monitor's speakers.

Summary: As stand alone speakers for the TV in a bedroom or den, this system serves its purpose. I would not consider these speakers as a replacement for a home theater system. But as I said in the intro, they beat the monitor speakers hands down. The remote for the speakers does not with a U-verse learning remote. The U-verse remote will adjust sound but that is through the monitor. The U-verse remote will not turn on the speakers, you have to do that manually.
Summary: I set-up in the main bedroom with sub-woofer next to bed and speaker unit about 12 ft away from my pillow. The sound is very adequate. Above all it is very simple to use. Sometimes those AV Receivers offer too much complexity for the basic user such as my partner and children.
Summary: I love this soundbar. I had the 450, and it was cool. Now, the 550 allows me to dim the display. Also as more connections. It DOES in fact do auto on with the optical cable, just have to set it with the remote, although Anynet+ has to be off.
