Summary: I own this system for more than 3 years. It still works fine, but the issues I had from day one remain. The wireless transmission is very flimsy. After about 30 minutes of use it looses connection to the rear speakers and you get an annoying alternation between front stereo and back dolby surround. The wireless antenna also leaves much to be desired. It sticks far out in the back of the receiver and if you have it in a rack there is always the chance of breaking it.
Summary: UPDATE, 13 June 2014: I'm still using this, and it still works great. Only one thing I suggest remembering: If you want to make surround sound (Dolby Digital) work on a PC for stuff like games with this, you need a sound card that has Dolby Digital Live, or you'll only get stereo. I use this card on Windows 7: ASUS PCI-Express x1 7.1 Channel Sound Card XONAR_DX/XD/A/90-YAA060-1UAN00Z ---------- I got this mainly to be a receiver for external items (right now, a TV's...
Summary: They sent a central speaker system that was of different brand. All of the other systems were samsung but the central one was sony. Not to mention that central system was popped and didn't work. I went to go search for a replacement but it ended up costing basically the same price I had payed for this entire system. Tried to go on without the central and have a 4.1 system but the dialog from movies come out of the central speakers.
Summary: This is my first and last purchase of Samsung merchandise. I foolishly chose it over an identically-priced Sony with the same capabilities. At first I found it only mildly annoying. Little issues bugged me - like the fact that the iPod Dock doesn't allow you to control the music using the iPod controls. Instead, you have to control it through your TV, using a clunky program.
Summary: This unit sounds good and it plays DVD-Audio discs very well. It broke in 18 months of usage and the repair estimates are greater than the cost of the original unit. Now 5 speakers, a subwoofer and a receiver/dvd player will go directly to a landfill while my technics sl-dd22 turntable will never break. (and sounds outstanding) In all honesty, this is not acceptable. It's now a full garbage can worth of non biodegradable inferior style electronics. Sad.
Summary: I really question Samsung quality. My 410T home theater system stopped working when it was 13 montsh old. Samsung wants as much to fix it as I paid Amazon for the originial product. The product is junk. Beware.
Summary: I orderd this to finally make use of the 5.1 surround sound on discs and my game systems. I used a digital optical 3 port switch to connect my cable HD-DVR box, PS2 & PS3 systems for sound which all now sound GREAT through the system except when the wife yells at me for shaking walls and rattling her figurines around on the top of her chest of drawers.
Summary: I purchased a blue-ray player at Walmart for my new 40" LCD TV. Then I thought, I would much rather have a surround sound theater system if I could get one on ebay for near the same price at the player. I was surprised to find a one that included a DVD player that I got for only $20 more than the cost of the blue-ray player. So I took it back to Walmart and came home and placed a bid on a Samsung Theater System. I was so happy when I won! It sounds great!!
