The Samsung HT-X70 DVD home theater in a box (HTIB) features a 5-disc DVD/CD changer integrated with the audio-video (AV) receiver and a 5.1 surround sound speaker set. The standard package includes a full-featured universal remote control. The wireless remote can be used to control other compatible devices such as television sets.

The DVD player/AV receiver of the HT-X70T can hold up to 5 discs at once in its carousel-type disc loader. The player supports the following optical media types in addition to factory-pressed CDs and DVDs: CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, Video CD and DVD-Audio. It also features progressive DVD scanning and support for the MP3 and WMA audio formats as well as DivX video formats. The player can output video at resolutions of 480p, 720p and 1080i. Upscaling of standard definition DVD videos only go up to 1080i.

The FM radio digital tuner has 15 slots for preset radio stations. The system is also iPod and XM satellite radio ready. A cable to connect an iPod to the system is provided as an accessory while an XM Mini-Tuner and a subscription needs to be purchased separately to use the XM radio service. It also features USB Host capabilities, allowing the user to plug in a supported USB device and play back its music, picture or video clip contents.

The AV receiver features built-in decoders for Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS technologies. The systems puts out a total 1200 watts (RMS). Connectivity options include HDMI input and output, composite and component video output, audio line-in and SPDIF input.
