Started out GOOD, Within 3 months - Started locking up

Wolf4020, Amazon
1 August 2012
  • Summary: Well I've had this product over 1 year now so Samsung will not even return my calls or emails now. So right off the bat I'll tell you the service is terrible. Problem I'm having is any time you use the Smart Tv apps. The unit locks up. Shutting it down is the only way to get the system back. This was on WiFi and hard wired. This started on month 3 of owning the system. Samsung had me do a hard reset. This held up about another two months.

HT-D5500

spherehunter, Amazon
30 December 2011
  • Summary: This unit was refurbished. This unit would only play half of my blue-rays even with the updates. All my blue-rays would play with no problem on my Samsung BD-D5700 When I contacted Samsung they couldn't even find this unit in there system. I went with an Onkyo system and bought another BD-D5700.

Poor iPod control???

Larry in FL, Amazon
12 September 2011
  • Summary: This review is actually for the similar appearing model 5210C, which I got at Costco. Everything about this unit appears to be the same, so I am offering a comment to others. The sound quality was Ok; but there were two problems: 1. The iPod control was fine but has a *VERY* annoying bug: ALL songs are displayed and played alphabetically. Whether you are looking at a playlist or an album, it sorts (and plays) the tracks alphabetically!

Disappointing for Samsung

Ross K, Amazon
27 December 2011
  • Summary: Unfortunately, I had problems setting my system up. Having connected everything up the way the manual recommended (the Sky HD box going in to the Bluray HDMI IN port, and the Bluray going in to the TV), I wasn't able to get the Bluray to switch to the correct input. When selecting HDMI 1, the screen just went blank. After an hour on the phone to Samsung to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong, the chap, whilst helpful, didn't have a clue.

Lacking clear crisp dialogue

Sapele, Amazon
25 November 2011
  • Summary: This set is loud but but after much configuration and setting changing I ended up very frustrated. I was unable to get a satisfactory clear clean diaglogue from the samsung. I ended up changing the auto config settings, boosted the center speaker to its max (6), had to lower the left/right to -2 and choose Smart sound. This was satisfactory sound wise, but nothing more.
