Samsung HT-BD2

The Samsung HT-BD2 is a Home Theater in a Box (HTIB) that features a built-in Blu-ray player; the first HTIB to have Blu-ray according to Samsung. This high-end system is composed of a Blu-ray Disc player, four tallboy speakers, a center-channel speaker, two rear satellite speakers and a dedicated subwoofer. The HT-BD2, which is available in a stylish glossy and matte black color combination, also comes bundled with a slim universal remote control.

In addition to Blu-ray discs, the HT-BD2 can also read the following media formats: CD, CD-R/RW, DVD, DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW. The player also supports MP3 music and JPEG photo playback.

The Samsung HT-BD2 can play 1080p movies at 24 frames per second (fps). Other video features include output resolution support from 480i all the way to full 1080p HD resolution as well as video upscaling of standard DVDs to 1080p. On the audio side, the Samsung HT-BD2 features a multitude of audio processing technologies including Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital+, Dolby Pro Logic II/IIx and many more. The system boasts of a total power output of 1100 watts.

Apart from the subwoofer, the HT-BD2’s 4 tallboy speakers (two front and two side-surround), the center channel speaker and the two satellites can all be wall-mounted. The tallboy speakers come with a detachable base allowing them to be used as floor-standing speakers, while the center and satellite speakers each have a table stand.
