Summary: I just bought this unit a week ago at Best Buy as an open box item. It was originally $499, but marked down to $289 since it was open box, but the day before Thanksgiving they were doing 30% off all open box items so I got it out the door at $202 before tax. Let me preface my review by saying that I have previous home theater experience and this is my second system that I've purchased so I know how to navigate myself through the controls.
Does Not Retain Speaker Settings When Powering Off.
H. Girard, Amazon
8 May 2010
Summary: This appears to be a common problem with every unit made. The speaker distance settings are not retained after entering power off standby mode. This may not be obvious to the casual user because the speaker distance settings are very subtle. To the advanced user, this is an annoyance. This issue is wide spread all over the Internet. Samsung has no solution other than to give you your money back, but only after you send the whole package back to them.
Summary: This product does have good sound, but I'm returning because of 2 majorly annoying flaws in the design: 1. You can't watch TV while listening to your iPod. So forget about watching the game while playing music. 2. Inputs automatically reset everytime you turn it off. For me to watch TV, I have to have it on the HDMI setting. Yet, when I turn on the receiver, it defaults to the TV setting and I have to change it every time.
Summary: GREAT SOUND AND BASS . SO GLAD PURCHASED THIS REFURBISHED AND SAVED MONEY AT THE SAME TIME .DONT KNOW HOW WE EVER LIVED WITHOUT IT. MAKES MOVIES 100% BETTER. IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM I SAY GO FOR IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Didn't work well with my other Samsung Anynet devices
3 March 2010
Summary: I was very excited to complete my home theater system with this item. I already had the Samsung Plasma and Samsung Blu Ray. For the most part it was very clunky to use and beside the volume, the anynet thing didnt work well together...I had to consistantly change the input back to SAT from TV (which is the antenna input) It seems like a great system, but it simply is not.
Summary: This theatre system works really great, the sound is perfect and gets really loud, which i like and its a pretty good looking system. My only complaint is that i couldn't hook up my xbox to it and it was alittle difficult to hook up my cable tv to, I had to buy other cables for that. And also had to buy hdmi cables to hook up the blue ray. overall it's a nice system and has been working great for me.
Summary: I by no means am an end all to home audio opinion(s) but this system sounds great for what I paid. It is far from perfect but it definitely will be a step up for most purchasers. I would give it 4 1/2 stars the only beefs being that it doesn't have the best sound via the included Ipod dock, and it automatically defualts to TV when turned on, not to what is was last on.
Summary: THIS WAS A REFURB AND IT DID NOT WORK PROPERLY FROM THE START. SUB WOOFER WOULD WORK 30 MINUTES AND CUT OFF. TRIED TO RESET SYSTEM REPEATEDLY AND FINALLY HAD TO SEND IT BACK AFTER LESS THAN ONE WEEK. HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE RETURNED SOON.
Summary: This is entry-level audio equipment. The further you turn it up, the more distortion you'll notice; I especially noticed it in the dialog frequencies, and there's no "punch" to the bass which leaves a lackluster performance for cannon battles or other cinematic explosions. My biggest disappointment, however, has to be the fact that this unit does NO video conversion common on most component systems, and doesn't have any on-screen display for menus/setup.
