Summary: A friend told me about Philips and I knew they were good but how good ?????? I set this up and boy did my TV come alive I wasn't expecting the sound to be so great. And the price was OK I love it. The only thing I can say Neg. is it's hard to load the CD......My hands are not so good they are numb and most of the time no feeling. But I still love it.......
Excerpt: My wife bought me this as a wedding gift and its fantastic. The sound quality is so crisp and clear. It plays DVDs too so there is no need to have a separate DVD player, giving you the 'cinema sound' affect. Comes with 2 speakers and an amplifier making your music of the highest quality. Has a USB port connection, which we use for our MP3 player giving us hundreds of tracks of the highest quality. We got this at a bargain price.
Summary: I hve not had a cinema system before but I wouldn't be without one now.this system is sooo easy to set up and the sound is incrediable.I have gone to answer the phone, turn off water and jumped when a door slammed. Its looks are so stylish I love it.It is also really good value.
Summary: Philips after sales backup is absolutely abysmal. Having bought The HTS 6500 cinema sound system for a Sheltered Housing Project, money they could ill afford, when something goes wrong you at least expect that a company the size of Philips could answer Emails and Phone calls, but not one has been acknowledged. We feel that we have been left high and dry by Philips. The Tenants have collectively voted not to buy any other Philips products In the future.
Excerpt: The most striking thing about this system is its incredibly debonair design which adapts to most styes of decor. The main DVD console is finished in tasty piano black with silver around the edge and a row of tiny illuminated buttons on the front. Hit the open/close button and the entire right hand side slides across, allowing you to insert your disc.
Excerpt: im on my second HTS 6600 (1st was replaced) and still cant connect to a HD TV ( philips 42 PFL9532 cineos also replaced) using hdmi . the picture looks like the first tv broadcast of the berlin olympics . the only way you can watch dvds is by setting the unit at 480i !! effectually telling the unit its connected to a low res tv.philips are ment to be working on it but i think ive just been fobed off .
Summary: I just received this today, courtesy of amazon. It was very easy to setup with my philips flat screen tv, just a couple of cables, and up you go. I lived in many countries, and therefore have an extensive collection of DVD from many regions. Thanks to the web, I was able to find very rapidly the code to key in on the remote control to have this unit enable for region 0, and all my DVD works fine...
Excerpt: se the sound quality is exceptional especially for a 2.1 system, hdmi upscaling (1080i) is very good and a noticable improvement in picture quality, the surround sound effect works very well it has an effect called ambisound that sends out the sound all around you an bounces it off the walls, it sounds very good the active sub is superb with deep clear bass an theres loads of connections for other devices including USB, IPOD dock, hdmi, digital out, 2x aux inputs, scart...
Pros: the best sound an connectivity on the market for the price
Cons: no optical connection, but its a 2 . 1 anyway
