Review Summary

The Philips HTS3555-37 AV receiver is almost the size of a standard DVD player, but it includes a Class-D amplifier in the same box. It comes with some small speakers for the front and surrounds and has an 8” woofer module. It also includes an iPod dock, an HDMI output and scales standard DVDs up to 720p or 1080i. It also has a composite, S-video, and component video output for regular (non-HD) TVs as well. There are analog stereo and digital coax inputs Unfortunately, there isn’t an optical jack, so if you have the latest console game systems, you would have to buy adapters so as to obtain discrete 5.1 surround sound. The HTS3555/57 will play DVD, CD, MP3/WMA/JPG on burned CD, and DivX / DivX Ultra on burned DVD or CD. It can also play those computer formats from a thumb drive plugged into the front USB port. The audio clarity of this Philips HTS3555-37 home theater system with its 4 surround speakers, a Class D digital amplifier and a powerful subwoofer for rich audio is simply stunning. The unit can be controlled with its remote. Some users are very impressed with this home theatre system, its design, make, and sound system, especially, the sound system which they find absolutely astonishing. However there are also some users who encountered problems with this system, either the speakers are not working or the power is not coming and also the dvd doesn’t close properly. This Philips HTS3555-37 home theatre system is amazing; it was easy to hook up and is very easy to set-up. This theatre picks up the frequencies of radio stations very well. On the whole, with consideration to its price, almost perfect sound system, the Philips HTS3555-37 home theatre is considered as quite a good purchase.
