The Philips HTS3357 is a home entertainment system comprised of a DVD/CD player/AV receiver and a 5.1 channel surround sound speaker system. Among its numerous features include high quality Dolby and DTS multi-channel sound, video upscaling and USB Direct functionality.

Head Unit

The system’s head unit measures approximately 17.1 x 2.2 x 12.2 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 8.9 pounds. The DVD/CD player plays a wide variety of optical media including CD, VCD, SVCD, DVD, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW and Double Layer DVD+R. In addition, the Philips HTS3357 supports the playback of MP3, WMA and JPEG and DivX digital media formats. It also features support for DivX Ultra Certified, which will allow the user to enjoy enhanced DivX video with extra features such as integrated subtitles, multiple languages, multiple tracks and menus. The HTS3357 has High Definition video upscaling via HDMI and has built-in DTS, Dolby Digital and Pro Logic II decoders.

Aside from optical discs, the HTS3357 also offers playback of digital media through its USB Direct feature and its MP3 line-in. With USB Direct, compatible files saved in a USB flash disk or other devices can be played back. The MP3 line-in is a Plug and Play technology that allows the direct playback of audio files from a portable media player.

Speaker System

The 5.1 channel speaker system has a total output power of 600 watts (RMS). Its front satellite speakers measure 3.8 x 7.8 x 2.9 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 1.4 pounds. The rear speakers are floor-standing pillars that are 46.6 inches in height, 7.7 pounds in weight and have the same width and depth as the front units. The HTS3357’s magnetically shielded, 3-way center channel measures 17.1 x 3.7 x 2.6 inches (W x H x D) x 2.8 pounds while the passive subwoofer measures 6.3 x 14 x 14.6 inches (W x H x D) with a weight of 10.5 pounds.
