Summary: I purchased my Sc-PT960 on 11/17/08. I was looking for a mid range theatre system to compliment my Panasonic TV which I like. January 2010 - The unit won't power up. Although the unit is barely out of warranty on time the power supply crapped out. I doubt we had more than 20hrs use. Here's the thing. Try to navigate the Customer Support system or talk to the staff at Panasonic. I really felt I had accomplished something when I eventually got to a human being!
Summary: I've read decent reviews on this product and for the most part feel this is a good product for the money when it comes to the audio/visual reproduction. Here is why you should run away from this product: The DVD changer cartridge is flawed. DVD's get stuck inside the mechanism and you can't get them out. My unit was repaired once and paid for by Panasonic. When it happened again, they wouldn't pay for it and offered me a coupon for a discount off the price of a new one.
Summary: I have the 956 I am sooo disappointed by this. I am returning it. The sound is not that great. There are only 4 settings in EQ!!! My iPod has more options for sound than this!!! The bass doesn't get that powerful. The subwoofer is weak on its highest setting. Disappointing that the wireless speakers have wires!!!
Summary: We returned this product because the rear speakers, advertised as "wireless", are in fact both connected to a remote box by... you guessed it... speaker wire. Therefore, if you have a hallway or doorway along the wall where you're setting up the rear speakers, you are still stuck figuring out how to route the wires. The other difficulty, as others have noted, are very limited input/output options.
Summary: Was led to believe this unit had wireless rear speakers Not true This unit has a wireless rear receiver with 2 speakers that are to be placed on opposite sides of the room that must be wired to it. Hard to do without tripping over wires on your wireless rear speakers. Also Rear speakers are not very loud. You rarely hear anything from them and what you do hear is not very loud.
