The SC-PT960 is a home theater system from Panasonic that features a 5-disc DVD/CD changer, 5.1 channel speaker system with wireless rear speakers, integrated iPod cradle, an AM/FM tuner and HDMI connectivity.

The Panasonic SC-PT960’s 5-disc DVD/CD changer can read the following disc types in addition to standard audio CDs and video DVDs: CD-R/RW, VCD, SVCD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD-RAM and Double Layer DVD-/+R. The SC-PT960 supports the playback of MP3, WMA and JPEG files. It also features progressive DVD scanning, cinema mode and full HD 1080p resolution as well as up-conversion of standard DVD videos to full 1080p.

This top-of-the-line system’s 5.1-channel surround sound speaker set includes a pair of front tower speakers, a high quality Kelton subwoofer, a center channel speaker and a wireless rear speaker kit. Panasonic utilized stiff bamboo in the construction of the center speaker resulting in a cleaner sound. The SC-PT960 can also be paired with Panasonic’s wireless speaker kit (SH-FX85) for use in multiple rooms.

The iPod dock is integrated into the front of the main unit in a flip-down panel. When docked, the iPod’s batteries will be charged and the user can control the iPod’s functions using the included remote control while the TV set displays audio menus.

The system has built-in decoders for Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS. It features a total power output of 1250 watts RMS.

Connectivity options include 1 HDMI output, composite and component video out, audio line-in and an optical digital audio input.

    The speakers are driven from a separate wireless unit that plugs into a wall outlet. That unit receives the signal from the main system within 33 feet.
