Buy at your own risk

Michael Everett, Amazon
22 May 2010
  • Summary: This unit is a nightmare. The instructions appear to have been written by someone with Alzheimer's. There seems to be no logic to the operation of the unit nor is it there anything intuitive about it. Every time you want to do something new with the unit, expect to commit a major chunk of time puzzling over the manual. The remote is made of some aluminum-type metal that rapidly corrodes and partially obscure the names on the buttons.

  • Summary: This item is just good looking junk! After searching on-line all day I realize that I'm not the only one with this problem, or the only one who just has to trash this whole system! TRAY I.N.T.I!!! That's all it says, then WAIT! For hours, it will do nothing, totally locked up, tried unplugging for 30 minutes to "reset" tried removing the DVD's.

Gianluca Viale, Amazon
24 February 2008
  • Summary: Very good and versatile system. 5 DVD/CD is great, you don't have to open/close the tray and the jewel box every time! MP3 discs are great with this system. Speakers are small but soud is great!

  • Summary: Quite simply, I was totally dissapointed. If I had kown then what a total pile of junk this was I would have done more home work. If anyone thinks about getting this, STOP! I was a long time Panasonic buyer but never again.

Great Value, but the Infamous Popping is a Killer

Kevin D. Ivers, Amazon
13 May 2006
  • Summary: I realize this is a very old product now, but you never know if some unsuspecting person is out there seeing it on auction sites from previous owners trying to unload it. It is indeed a very attractive system for the price we all paid for it when we bought it and took it home. The surround-sound is impressive for the price, the look is stylish for something so cheap. It's not all that complex to operate either. But the heart-attacking-inducing loud pops really are awful.

Don't let the looks fool you

Joel Gregory "soundoffn", Amazon
29 January 2006
  • Summary: I usually don't leave product reviews but because I feel burned so badly on this one I had to say something to warn everyone else. I was actually online searching for a way to remedy the popping and hissing, thinking I must have been doing something wrong, and then I ran across other reviews that were stating the same problem that I am having. This system really is pathetic peace of junk and I have been totally embarrassed by them on more than one occasion.

Stay away from Panasonic!

C. Duncan, Amazon
23 December 2004
  • Summary: Customer Service - the Panasonic website claims this is very important to them. I had my home theater only 3-4 months when a VCR tape got stuck. I has now been at the service center for almost 4 months! When I am lucky enough to get a response from Panasonic (which is rare), they make promises of completion and/or replacement. But promises won't play the DVD's my family would have liked to watch together over the holidays.

Sounded Great at First

Juan Valdez "Juan Valdez", Amazon
3 November 2004
  • Summary: My wife selected this system because of the speakers and stands. I must admit that it sounded great for the price, at first. Several months of use and we got the same heart attack inducing popping sounds reported in most of the reviews here. The subwoofer/amp is extremely hot and the fan has stopped working. Panasonic was less than helpful, so I pulled it apart and found that even though the fan was good, the board would not supply any voltage to it.

Decent system

Mir Islam "mislam", Amazon
21 September 2004
  • Summary: I bought this unit from Amazon about 6 months ago. I must admit, this is a very stylish system with very low profile. The dvd player itself is very very slim. It is wider than normal components though. Sound is pretty decent. I have not had any problem with the sound. Some folks have complained about the subwoofer being weak. But in my setup it is delivering robust and rich bass. I think this unit is not meant to be in a very big room. In small rooms sound is great.

Excitement to Disappointment

Tyler F., Amazon
17 August 2004
  • Summary: I picked up an open-box of this system at Best Buy one evening and thought I'd made a steal. Normally $500 I got it for $300 with some scuffs and damage, no big deal. I brought it home and immediately plugged it in to test it out. The sound was great on the radio but the DVD player failed to function! After much fighting and hassle I googled the error I was getting, DVD H02.
