Summary: These are great and now I have 5.1 surround sound. If you have the 2.1 you really need to upgrade and get the these. It has been great listening to the background noise at the World Cup 2014 and I almost feel that I am there. Glad I never paid to go and watch England though!! LOL. But the experience would have been good there. This is the next best and I would wholly recommended them.
Summary: I've had my Onkyo 2.1 system for a couple of years before deciding that I should upgrade, and I only wish that I did it sooner. It takes a while to calibrate the speakers properly for the layout of your room, but the Onkyo receiver gives you plenty of control over this.
Summary: Bought this based on the reviews where on amazon. Having a 2.1 220HDX system, I've give it a go for the 3 add-on columns. Currently I'm only using the central one (3.1 configuration) and the difference is notorious, especially on the speech level. For any one that has the base system, the add-on set is highly recommended.
Summary: Do it. I live with Dolby 2.1 for three years and can't believe I waited so long to do the upgrade. You will not be disappointed the difference is spectacular! I just wish I'd done it ages ago. The one thing that I didn't realise is that sky only broadcast everything in Dolby d if you have the HD package so I upgraded but blue ray is awesome!
Summary: We got the 2.1 a few years ago, amazing. We then got the rear speakers and center speaker which made this even better. I would recommend this even without the rear speakers and center speaker, you will not be disappointed.
Essential upgrade for Onkyo HTX-22HDX, sounds great
Iwan Price-Evans "pimlicosound", Amazon
21 October 2013
Summary: Pros: - Expands sound to 5.1 surround, or strengthens stereo (depending on arrangement) - Massively improves mid-range and crossover with subwoofer - Unlocks new listening modes on the HTX-22HDX, but you'll want to stick with Dolby/DTS - In movies and TV, voices come through clearly on the centre speaker - Music sounds better all round Cons: - Stripping and attaching the cables is fiddly
Summary: This is the second time I have bought one of these. I sold the first one when I needed more space but have since re-organised my room so bought another. It is a huge step up over my old Panasonic soundbar. In particular the default settings are spot on in terms of how the bass is balanced with the speakers.
