Summary: I bought this system for a fairly large room (10x20). As it turns out the set-up isn't too bad but I now wonder if the transition/wires running through the system cause the picture to be diminished. If so, I don't think it's too noticeable. Regarding the sound - it does have pretty good sound. Generally, I'm happy with the system so I didn't return it. I bought it for around $200. For some reason the sound on the system needs to be turned up fairly high on many movies.
Summary: Pros: 1. Beautiful design 2. Good Audio quality 3. Simple Set up Cons: I've purchased along with this Onkyo sound system and comcast xfinity cable box. The whole system can be operated by my comcast remote control, except I must manually change the input selection from ARC to HDMI1 on Onkyo receiver EVERYTIME I turn on my system. If you don't mind doing this, this is the system for you. I've contacted Onkyo several times and they don't have an answer.
Summary: Very nice system once you play around and tweak the settings. I bought this to supplement my awful tv speakers. I was a bit annoyed with how high you have to turn the volume up to really hear the roundness of the system. And my biggest problem was the add on speakers Onkyo SKS-22X (center+surrounds) I guess this is a problem with Amazon.com not carrying the add on speakers. I've been searching high and low to locate the add on speakers without luck.
Summary: Bought this system for the tv in my bedroom because i thought it was time to "upgrade" my home theater. Up to this point, i had been using my brothers 3-year-old logitech computer speakers that he bought for $50. Because i had very little experience with sound systems, i just looked at some of the highest rated setups on amazon, and the onkyo htx-22hdx was among the top ones that looked good to me.
Summary: gets 5 stars for ease of hooking it up. on screen menu is easy. we have it hooked up HDMI. from a very basic review, its sounds ok. i have the sony htct 500 sound bar on another tv. the sony sounds better to me. this one has a tinny sound.ive adjusted it many different ways. im not upset with the buy at all. but its just ok. decent. sony is better sounding to me.
Summary: Ok you may ask what do I expect for the money. First it should be said the reason I tried these out is because I was looking for the best bang for my buck with the least expense, wires, components taking up space etc for my modestly sized flat. I know that everyone has different tastes and requirements so I will only say this. I found these speakers inadequate for use with watching tv or dvds.
Summary: I bought the Onkyo home theater system (HTX-22HDX plus 5.1 optional speakers) based largely on a rave review by CNET.uk, which rated it 4.5 stars out of 5, along with happy reviews on amazon.uk's site by many satisfied buyers. I chose to give these more weight than the tepid review by CNET's American colleague, CNET.com, which awarded only 3 stars. Alas, the Yanks seem to have got it right. The sound is okay, but not much more.
