Summary: I purchased this product from reviews from other customers saying this is home theater to get for great sound. I agree with these reviews, but my Amplifier failed over the weekend 4/6/2014 by turning off in standby mode. I read the user manual and it instructed me to unplug everything from receiver and unplug for one hour. After one hour, I plugged receiver back in and still no display.
Summary: The sub sucks. I didn't have trouble with the hdmi distribution board, (yet), but the sub sucks. The sound is otherwise good. Wish it had a little more power and punch, but it sounds pretty good. The sub is just fluttery, like there is a fault with the driver or the voice coil. With the volume at thx reference level, and the sub volume at the same spot; when the bass hits hard, it lets out with a rattle that sounds like it's rubbing up against the baseboard heater.
(Oops, wrong) (and again!) This amateur tried several and this is the best

Summary: *** UPDATE JUNE 2013 (back to 3 stars) Onkyo replaced the unit with a different model, and I certainly give them credit for that. I've also had a good experience with the Sony STRDH720 7.1 receiver (matched with the old Onkyo speakers), which has worked with no problem and seems to be quite a value for the money. *** UPDATE 3/21/2013 (one star) Oops again. Received the unit back from the hole-in-the-wall "service center" and hooked everything up.
Summary: I thought I did a lot of research before purchasing this all in one set. Unfortunately I never when on the official Onkyo support forum to see all of the HDMI issues with their receivers. The set arrived in perfect condition in a HUGE box with everything inside. The speakers are awesome and the powered sub-woofer really brings the bass to the party. My home theater set-up is pretty simple.
