Summary: I purchased this home theater in a box because it was more affordable than purchasing components separately. If you're seriously concerned with audio quality, I doubt you'll be looking at HTiB options, so this review will focus on the rest of us who want better sound than factory TV speakers at an affordable price point. As many other reviewers have noted, this package is huge! The UPS man simply laughed at me as he (and a colleague) delivered my purchase to my door.
Summary: So I did all my research into the Onkyo ht-s5400, finally purchased it and am I satisfied? yes! Frankly I was still unsure even after doing all this research as the reviews were either very good or very poor but the amount of good reviews out-numbered the bad. Anyway, after receiving my box with the excitement of a child receiving a new toy I proceeded to hook it up and powered up without any calibration and was instantly wowed by the sound, so much so I did not...
Summary: My uncle called to ask if it was a good idea to buy the HT-S3400, after intensive research I recommended the system as a good fit for his basement. Two weeks before I had purchase the Klipsch HD 500 for $349 which only included a 5.1 Speaker setup, needless to say during my research for my uncle's purchase I discovered the HT-S5400 and fell in Love with the review and the price.
Summary: This system is descent and you get a little more than what you would expect. Pros: -The base is full and can vibrate the paintings on your wall. The center channel and front speakers are crisp, clear and powerful. -Descent price. -Clean look. -A fair amount of inputs and outputs for auxiliary equipment. Cons: -The rear and side speakers are not as impressive.
