Sub is junk

ticked off, Amazon
21 September 2013
  • Summary: Bought system in June. Subwoofer stopped working within first month. Had to ship it out to repair facility in NY. Part on B/O to repair. Needs circuit board. Don't know if the same junk will be put in sub it originally was built with. Read other reviews first. There is a known issue with the subwoofer. Onkyo won't replace, so you will get stuck with a refurbished part. Zone 2 volume has to be turned very high to hear. Instructions are on a cd.

Beware Onkyo = disposable

Mark C. King, Amazon
3 May 2013
  • Summary: Owned this for 2 months and sub is in the shop already. Onkyo own repair center states their equipment is crap. Told me the dealer cost for this sub is $28.00. Didn't buy this from Amazon though. Got it from HH Greg for 475.00. The rest of the system seems fine and has nice sound. The sub is getting fixed for free but I plan on replacing it with a different sub.

Dropped the bass, but not in a good way.

J. Sapienza "EvilGold", Amazon
9 April 2013
  • Summary: I got my unit at a local chain store, it worked pretty flawlessly for about 2 days and then the bass stopped working. Also when positioning the unit to access the cables in back the receiver gave off several sparks accompanied by loud popping noises, the unit still worked fine after this, but given these 2 issues I would say that the system may not really be worth the price.

The Sub-Woofer Died

Tommie Carter, Amazon
10 February 2013
  • Summary: The sub-woofer on this product died, wouldn't even turn on. It worked off and on at first and then stopped working. I sent a replacement request to Onkyo support and I am waiting for a response. Based on Amazon return policy, I still have 14 days to return it... The system seemed to fit my requirements (7 HDMI inpouts), so I was able to hook up my X-Box, PC for 3D movies, 2 BluRay Players, AppleTV, GoogleTV, So I hope they can resolve this issue...

dead subwoofer

Amazon Customer "Jack", Amazon
9 January 2013
  • Summary: Bought it on Amazon. Loved the wireless streaming feature, even though I had to buy a wireless adaptor, and it was in the front blocking the other jacks and it wasn't pretty. In the beginning the subwoofer would occasionally work, but most of the time the light is off. After a while it wouldn't even turn on. The seller offered to send a replacement but I was just too worried about the quality so I returned it. The return was very easy as they pick it up.

eb85, Amazon
22 November 2012
  • Summary: Bought this product about a month after the release date... it is INCREDIBLE! Sound is out of this world, and listening to music on Pandora is like nothing I've ever experienced before...NO commercials!!!! I love that there's a phone app where you can control the system, it is really cool! In short... WORTH every penny!

Garbage-keep shopping

Jero, Amazon
8 October 2012
  • Summary: I bought this new at hh gregg about a year ago. Died in about 3 months. I(t has been in for repair for more time than it worked. I just took it in for the 5th time, should get a replacement this time. Before I spen all this money on home theatre sound, I used an Aiwa bookshelf stereo (bought at goodwill) for stereo sound. This $30 bookshelf system has been used for 15 years, and sounds almost as good as the 7.1 sound.
