Summary: The size of the receiver and speakers make it hard to fit into the furniture I have but I trust Onkyo equipment so much I made it work. Other brands are more compact and I hope Onkyo follows suit before I buy again. Onkyo made the set up easy and operation easy.
Summary: So far I have only set up the 5.1 system. As everyone has said, there is not nearly enough speaker wire to set up all 7 speakers (assuming you run wires along baseboards and such). But with the 5.1, the speakers are nice looking (it's the receiver that's ugly as sin), easy to set up (with the Audyssey mic), great sound.
Pros: Easy Controls, Easy To Set Up, great price, Great Sound, Powerful
Summary: Works great in a home theatre setting and blends nicely with most equipment. This is the best (and cheapest) 7.1 surround sound HTIB around. It decodes all of the uncompressed formats with great quality. Video quality is also great. No cons to report.
Pros: Clear Sound, Interfaces Well With TV, Intuitive Controls, Thundering Bass
Summary: The System...The 7100 Is an awesome system. The Ipod Dock is an excellent feature but what sold me on the system was the HDMI Receiver. My old system was nice but No HDMI support so when I purchased my first LCD TV I had to watch everything via composite so my surround sound worked but I couldn't watch HD shows or movies to the best res.Comes packed well, Easy to set up, Configuration is a bit difficult but can be figured out.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy Controls, Great Sound, Powerful
Summary: I ordered this system from b&h last week[...]Total setup time was between 60 and 90 mins. Depending on how tech savvy you are, it may take you a little less time or a little more. I hooked up a PlayStation 3 and Time Warner/Motorola cable box to the receiver via HDMI. The receiver is the Onkyo TX-SR606, a full featured receiver which blows away anything at a similar price point.
Summary: Great entry level audiophile system. Complete and feature laden. A little complex even for me (PhD in tech related field with lots of computer experience) and many features required extensive familiarity with online discussion groups to understand and implement. Not recommended for casual user who is looking for plug and play.
