This system is awesome!!!!

  • Summary: I got a great deal from Newegg, free shipping and $100 bucks off. Couldn't beat it and believe me, I did try. Delivered in 2 days. I love Newegg. If your an Audiophile on a budget, this is your buy. And people, electronics do need to breathe, don't smother them.
  • Pros: Excellent sound, tons of connections. I have my Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, ipod, and everything else you can think of hooked up to this thing and it doesn't miss a beat. HDMI connections are a huge plus and it's not pass through. It gets a little hot but it's not as bad as some make it seem. Woofer puts...
  • Cons: The only con I saw, which isn't really that big a deal to me, was the wiring that came with system. It sucks. Way too short and way too thin. This systems quality is way too good to be packaged with such inept wiring. Radio Shack, they got what u need, go get it.

My neighbors hate me!!!

HUGH B., Newegg
27 May 2010
  • Summary: I have gotten so many complaints on my bass. Yet the power on my sub is generally set between 30-40%. By the way most of my complaints have come between 1-6pm...ha ha....so sorry for you!!!
  • Pros: Great system, setup was painless. I have used this in every manner that I could think of and have not been disappointed yet. The speakers sound awesome for a "htib" by far the best in its class!! Game settings are fantastic! Socom: Confrontation(in the action game mode) really gets the neighbors ...
  • Cons: The wires that come with it, but they didn't see the light of day as I had bought 14 gauge monster roll(100ft.) and a monster sub cable. You don't need monster ge makes good cable as well, but you don't want to use the stock wires!

Great buy

  • Summary: Instructions were reasonably clear, I was able to get the remote to control power for LG blu-ray player and Sony HDTV and DirecTV cable/sat box pretty easily. Just keep entering codes until you get the right one, try each to see if it works.
  • Pros: Good price, great quality. Sound is awesome, I recommend the included microphone based speaker setup once you have your speakers where you want them.
  • Cons: throw the speaker wire away, get good quality stuff. I am 46, need reading glasses to see working on remote buttons! However it just takes a week or so to learn what's what.

  • Pros: Everything. Sweet setup. if you have ps3 you will need to let the ps3 do your actual decoding and just pass it through your reciever. your reciever will just show multi channel (not DTS-HD) but you are getting DTS-HD (as long as your ps3 says it)
  • Cons: buy better gauge wire, like 12g for the front 3 speakers and probably just some 18/16 gauge for the back speakers. and also con would have the be the complaints from the neighbors.

  • Pros: Sound is amazing. Great price. The receiver works really well. I have no problem playing stander tv or hd tv from hd cable box all trhough my hdmi. I play xbox360 and PS3 w/ blurays throught this that sound and look amazing.
  • Cons: Speaker wire is horrid, grab better wire. Auto sound calibration messes up bass. Had to maunally reset bass levels but no biggie.

Great Value!

  • Summary: If you can shell out the extra cash the 7200 does have a little better speakers, but this is a a great value for the cash.
  • Pros: This is a great buy for the money. I looked at Yamaha, Denon, Bose and a few other systems before buying this one and my girlfriend and I could not be happier with our purchase. Onkyo makes incredible recievers and this one is no different. Speakers are actually better than expected. Give out goo...
  • Cons: The only low point is the speaker wire they ship with it, go buy new wire and you are all set.

awesome

  • Summary: My wife and I love this system. We are now addicted to buying blu-ray discs and cranking up the volume!
  • Pros: entire system is big and very loud! I knew that it would be, but I was still surprised when I set it up.
  • Cons: gets kinda warm, but no big deal because I don't have it in an enclosed space. You have to use your own HDMI cable to output to the TV. I kinda hoped one would be included, but no biggie.

  • Summary: All I can say is the unit is amazing. I came from a low end early model Sony surround unit and the difference blows my mind. I am not an audiophile, but have a sharp ear. Prior to buying, I relied on reviews, testimonials and specs.
  • Pros: Easy Setup/AutoMic, incredible sound, attractive components. Price.
  • Cons: Not exactly a con- as other reviews have stated, this unit runs very hot. However, the manual states this also. At first it made me nervous as the nook that houses the unit is tight. However having it exposed or recessed in the nook caused little temperature fluxuation. The unit is spec'd for it ...

  • Summary: ONKYO should send #14 wire in the kit so we customers don't have to go by it!
  • Pros: Real easy to hook up, and we did not use the enclosed wire. I bought #14 speaker wire for all speakers! What Great Sound!!
  • Cons: When I mounted the speakers, the mount partially covered the wire connectors. A bit of re-adjusting too care of that.
