Features

The HT-S6200 is a home theatre system with A/V processing and amplification function as well as four HDMI™ 1.3a inputs that can handle 1080p video as well as high-definition surround-sound codecs by DTS and Dolby. Compatibility with Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz gives users the option of incorporating front height channels into the home theater set-up. It also features onboard Audyssey equalization and volume technologies adapt the soundstage to the dimensions of the room and maintain clarity at different loudness levels. A proprietary Universal Port allows single-cable connection of the included Dock for the iPod® or an optional Onkyo HD Radio™ tuner. Low-end frequencies are handled by a 290 W powered subwoofer, while seven finely matched surround-sound speakers ensure that, whatever playback component you hook up, the HT-S6200 will deliver a fully immersive home theater experience. It is a 7.1-channel, 1200W total output 130W power x 7ch (8ohms 1kHz 0.9%) home theatre system with 290W sub power and is THX certified. The audio system supports DOLBY Decoder (True HD, DD Plus), DTS Decoder (DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio Decoding) and Dolby PLIIz. The system supports input and output interface(s) like audio in/out, Digital Audio IN (OPT/COAX), composite and composite video.

The Onkyo HT-S7200 retails for just under $900 and the HT-S6200 for just under $800. Really, we see no reason why you wouldn't go for the S7200 for the nominal extra money. If you are really wanting to run 7 speakers and can't accommodate towers up front... well, work it out. The upconversion, additional inputs, and dual subwoofer outputs is more than enough justification in our book. For more information, please visit www.onkyousa.com . Read more

Performance + Music: * The detailed original sound from every instrument is great * Very good voice level and quality * The drums and the bass guitar sound is very real. + Movies/Games: * Nice voice clarity * Explosion, gunshots, accident sounds are great Other thoughts * Heavy! 70lb * It warms up a bit, but I live in Buffalo so that is not a problem...,lol * I noticed a little delay (may be in few milli seconds) when I connect and play my Yamaha keyboard. First the sound system - After getting everything set up and hooked up the sound and quality of what came from the system was great. However, after a bunch of my own troubleshooting and working with Onkyo it was determined that the HDMI passthrough was not passing all signals. Since the item was less than 2 weeks old, I contacted vanns and they quickly issued me a RMA and offered a refund since the item wasnt in stock and couldnt tell me when it would be again. The... Onkyo's reputation with regards to audio processing precedes itself. I love the convenience of having everything sent in one box. I'm using the system to run a Samsung upconverting DVD player and a Comcast HD/DVR Box with a 46" Samsung 1080P LCD (all HDMI, which I also love). I've only had it installed a few days, and I'm already in love with it. My test dvds have been Iron Man and Sin City. The system more than adequately handled these demanding soundtracks with clarity... Read more or see product

Great sounding system for the money. Easy to hook up - 4 hdmi in-ports. The ipod port is a big plus, once ipod is plugged in it can be controlled by remote and is charged by the docking port. Overall a high quality system - huge bass; everything was carefully & neatly packed; fairly easy setup; and has excellent, thunderous sound which can be finely tuned. Speakers can be hung on wall or stood up on a surface. Highly recommended. Read more
