Summary: Bought this in November of 2008 for the living room of our apartment ... room is about 15' x 10', possibly a little bigger. Now, almost two years later, I couldn't be happier. At the time, I bought it for $300 and have gotten my money's worth already. Sound hasn't degraded at all and is more than enough to fill the room in question. We use it a good deal, too. We host regular movie nights at our house and it's absolutely wonderful for that.
Summary: Onkyo, one of the best names in the entire home theatre business. I absolutely love this system. I use it every day, whether I have my ipod hooked up to it or if I am watching movies. The bass is phenomenal, and the sound quality is crystal clear. I am not an audiophile by any means but I do enjoy great sound. I would never buy another brand.
Summary: This is my first ever review of a product, but I am so happy with it I had to write one. First of all let me say this was an upgrade from a less than good system that got me through college. For the money I spent I wasn't expecting a top of the line system, but when I hooked it up ( in less than an hour) and turned it on I was blown away. almost literally by the powered subwoofer. This system has bass, and I love it.
Summary: An outstanding value - a great-sounding 5.1 channel home theater system ideally suited for apartments or anywhere space is at a premium. The satellites are easily placed on furniture or hung anywhere. The 2 front and 2 side speakers stand vertically, with a very small footprint 4" wide by 4-3/4" deep (10-3/4" high).

Summary: Installed very nice, color coded speakers and wires (which I didn't use, they were too short for my room size), for the price I'm enjoying the surround sound with a video projector. Works very well.
Summary: We purchased this sound system as a joint Christmas gift from each other and were very happy with the results. We haven't had a chance to check out any NASCAR races yet, but my husband and his brothers are very happy with all the sporting events that they have watched. The first DVD we watched to check out the sound was "Transformers" and the sound was awesome. This system was recommended to us by a friend and we were not disappointed.
Summary: If you're just getting started with surround or looking to upgrade from a cheap all-in-one solution, this is a good set. You're not going to impress audiophiles, but most people will be find it to be more than adequate. Doesn't quite have the features of the HT-S6100, so if you're looking for HDMI audio/audio upconversion, you might want to go that route. I use it with my Xbox 360 and HDTV, and I can't say there's anything more I'd want out of a system at this price.
Summary: I'm amazed what you can buy with so little money. I got a 50% discount by going with a refurbished system from a onkyo approved retailer and everything came sealed as good as new. I have had no problems with the system. It seems to me like if you want to go the HDMI route you should have a 7.1 system with speakers good enough to hear the lossless benefits.
Summary: Ok people, this is by far the best home theater combo on the market, in this price range. I had a RCA "home theater in a box" that I bought six years ago and it died on me a few months back. The RCA was ok for the price (I paid more for the RCA then the Onkyo and I would rate the Onkyo better). So when it died I couldn't wait to start looking for a new system. I looked around at the stores and on the internet, listened to a bunch at the store, but nothing caught my eye.
