Summary: While this is not the most advanced, it is definitely comparable to Bose. I like this set a lot. It turns a movie into a theater experience. My wife always says, "Turn that TV down!" One night we were watching the television and on the movie someone knocked on the door. I got up and went and answered our door,-That how real the sound separation is when you hook it up. It sounds like you are really living the experience of what is playing.
Summary: I had heard of the quality of Onkyo and decided to purchase to go with a newly mounted flat screen TV. Easy set up and instructions. Sound is awesome and good adjustability with the preset equalizer button.
Summary: I was a little skeptical when I purchase this sound system because I noticed some of the reviews were low because of product quality and reliability. I loved my purchase for a couple days. I had it connected to a TV in my small bedroom and the sound was fantastic. Great quality and the Sub really puts out. However, after just a few days, there was a constant static in the speakers anytime the receiver was on. Very annoying.
Summary: I worked well for about a year and 3 months, then died a slow and painful death. First it began to losing connection once in a while. The once a month, then once a week, then it died. No video or audio out from HDMi.
Summary: We purchased this AVR with the intent to provide basic 5.1 surround sound to our family room that has multiple devices such as a Mac Mini HD Cable Box PC, Various other portable devices (Phones/Tablets) and an 360-XBOX Game System. We considered many other AVR's however the value was over ridding factor for the decision. We are very pleased with the performance of the ONKYO HT-R390. Set-Up was pretty simple.
Definitley not your father's stereo. Maybe ok for low budget or small room

Summary: I bought this for parts so I cannot comment on the tuner/amp since it was non-functional. The speakers are what I bought the system for. They sound fair at low volume. They distort and get "boomy" at higher volume. They are rated 120W (peak), but beware they seized at much lower power than that (~25W RMS). Two of them are now toast. Onkyo should be ashamed...
i have a 7.1 sorround sound system in my basement and that is onkyo product

Summary: my comments, is the onkyo hts3400 5.1 is not really a good system & honestly i just damp it into my storage room because i'm no satisfied with it & i bought a new one a denon system which is iam satisfied at all.
Summary: I purchased this Onkyo system about 2 months ago. I had always wanted an Onkyo receiver so when this deal came across that included speakers I was sold. My brother and uncle have both had Onkyo receivers for years and they highly recommended this product to me. When I set everything up the day that it got to my doorstep everything sounded great! A couple of days later I started to hear a bunch of static noise in one of the speakers.
Summary: I have never written a review but after experiencing this product I felt compelled. This product was wonderful until it broke...twice. The first one I got was great until about a week later. It slowly started to spit static out of the left audio until it was totally disruptive. It then started to have problems starting up and would take 2-3 tries to get it to stay on. Amazon being the fine company they are quickly sent me a replacement model.
Summary: The stereo quit working after two weeks. It failed to stay on for more than a second. During the two weeks when it did work, the speakers generated a low static. The amplifier regularly heated to 119.6 degrees, with no obstruction to air circulation.
