Summary: In my opinion, Onkyo is the best brand for home audio equipment without getting into audiophile quality. On a side note, audiophile quality makes everything way too expensive for a gain not worth the money, IMO. If you have an ear for audio, this is leaps and bounds ahead of base speakers on a TV as well as many of the other systems I tested before I bought it. The one down side is that it has pass-through HDMI.
Summary: I usually wait about a year before I give a product review and I usually only do it if I really like something or I really don't like something. This falls into the "really like" category. It's easy to use and easy to set up. On top of that I was watching Despicable Me the other night with my Mom and she's a little hard of hearing so I had to turn it up. Unfortunately the sound goes way up during the action scenes.
Summary: I love onkyo receivers. I've bought 3 in the last year, and 2 friends bought on recommendation. Unfortunately, you have to do your homework and avoid any onkyo with 'pass-thru.' if you ever want to have a one hdmi cable solution for audio and video. Otherwise, you just wasted your money, in my opinion.
Summary: I had an older "Surround Sound" system that just wasn't cutting it with the new high quality digital audio now available in most movies. I got a little extra money at Christmas last year and after reading a bunch of reviews decided to take the leap and buy the Onkyo. I am very pleased with the quality of this system. It definately rocks the house. My wife is always telling the kids and I, "Turn it down it's shaking the whole house." YES! That's what we're going for.
Summary: I went cheap on the price, but feel like I still got quality and a real receiver. The sub is powerful enough that I have to turn down the volume during action scenes so I don't disturb the neighbors. Setup was easy with digital optical cables. I only run audio through and wire my PS3 and cable box straight to the TV with HDMI. The speakers are clear. Sound is probably not as rich as a more expensive system, but I am definitely happy with my purchase.
Summary: This little system packs quite the wallop in sound quality. Love it! Set up was really straight forward and didn't take too long, even though we have 4 major things hooked into it. With a few extra cables we could have several others hooked into it as well. My only dislike for it, and it's a small one, is that to ME...it's a complicated thing to control. But then I have never been very good at figuring out how to successfully use 4 diff remote controls!
Summary: Bought two of this! One got stolen during shipment (internationally) so i bought another one....did not regret it! It's working pretty well and I'm really satisfied with the sound quality. Only drawback are the wires provided, its too short and too thin. But hey, for the price, I ain't complaining!
Summary: I don't know what to say about this product. I think it's fine but very confusing. I cannot hook up my Xbox 360 on it for some reason, I tried and tried then just gave up. I have it hooked up to my HD/DVR Direct Tv reciever, and a BluRay player, it produces nice audio.
Summary: Pros: Easy to set up Cheap Sounds good Cons: Does not allow audio through hdmi cable Not a lot of settings to tinker with I think this a good set-up for someone new to sound systems and if you live in a small apartment or something like that. The sound quality is good enough for me, I'm not that picky though. This is my first sound system and so far I have not had any problems with it. The set up was extremely easy.
