Value LG could have quite comfortably charged twice as much for the HT920B and we'd still have recommended it. It's quite simply the bargain of the year so far. Read more

The HT902TB punches above its weight with an assured performance that usually has no place on a system at this price, and surprisingly the virtual 10.1 sound mode actually works, adding an extra dimension to the surround sound quality. We're also impressed by the inclusion of a USB port, support for a wide array of formats and attractive design, while its ease of use will be welcomed by home cinema beginners. Read more

  1. surround sound that works

The surround system was purchased with my lg tv. I was looking for something that gives great sound for normal tv aswell as for dvd's. This machine has the sound i required and lots of other features besides but the thing i found hardest was when setting it up so that you can have sound from a sky hd system running through it. The optical cable does not work between the two units so i had to sort it out with a normal composite cable, but eventually it worked. Read more

Other Added Features

The LG HT902TB has tallboy speakers and has the version 10.1 Virtual Sound Matrix. It has the 1080i upscaling. It needs about 1000 watts to be able to function and has an HD AV Sync for viewing. In addition, it has a Virtual 10.1 Ch Sound that makes sounds crisp and high in quality. It also uses the SIMPLINK for viewing purposes.

Review Summary

The LG HT902TB is an awesome Home Theatre which includes a DVD and Tuner. Its design is attractive and easy to set up, though it is quite bulky. The four 1.2m speakers are cute with a glossy finish and semi-circular rear end. The centre speaker works perfectly with any TVs. The DVD’s rear panel features an HDMI output, a USB port and a digital audio input. The HDMI includes HD upscaling of DVDs to 720p or 1080i, but not 1080p. The USB allows direct playback from USB storage devices of music, JPEG and DivX files, and the digital audio input allows sources with digital audio outputs, like Sky+ and Sky HD receivers. The soundstage is exceptionally clean and detailed. The satellite speakers pick out any particular sound however faint it might be in the background. With the equality of all four main satellite speakers the sound is surprisingly amazing. On the other hand its pictures aren’t quite as satisfactory. It’s impossible not to notice the dotting noise in the LG’s pictures. And this doesn’t disappear if you upscale to 720p or 1080i, but upscaled images give some extra sharpness. Besides the slight noise, most other things about the HT902TB’s pictures are acceptable, especially considering its price. However the LG HT902TB lacks Long Filenames support for MP3 and Random Play ability. LG came out with upscaling surround sound solutions with its HT902TB. This 5.1 arrangement also improves standard definition picture quality up to 1080i with the supplied DVD/amplifier unit and offers a total of 1000W of power. The speaker setups give the option to either wall-mount the speakers or arrange them on the floor by mounting them in the supplied bases. Nevertheless the LG HT902TB with its surprisingly good sound and pleasant design is an attractive offer considering its price range, is not to be missed.
