Summary: The JVC THD50, to me, is better than the current model THG30. Why? Better sound, usb input, bass and treble controls and an Ipod input with docking station. I have had this system for two weeks and love it. The sound is very good with really good bass output.
Summary: I purchased this system for a small appartment. I wanted a classy looking home theater in a box that would look good with my 42 inch piano black flat panel. This system looks great, sounds great, and I love how you can play movies off of the usb drive. The ipod docking station is a nice touch too.
Summary: Ok, for one thing, i could care less that if it doesnt play from where i left on my mp3 cds. Another, mp3 cds are like 5 yrs ago. The sound i get from my ipod is amazing. To connect was very simple, has built in brackets, save money, i have yet to put it to max volume because even at the volume of...
Summary: I'm disappointed that no one previously reviewing this item cared to mention that the 5-channel stereo ONLY works when listening to CDs or watching DVDs on this particular model. If you want to watch cable or satellite TV movies with surround sound and not just 2 channels, you have to get the next...
Summary: Sounds pretty good. But just confirmed with JVC's Tech Support that when you play an MP3 disk and then turn off the power, you have to start the disk at track 1 every time you start up again. You might have expected this 10 years ago, but now it's inexcusable.
Summary: Extremely happy with this product although I didnt purchase at Newegg.com. Got a great deal at a retail store, but Newegg.com is the online king for prices!!!
Pros: Lots of input options. Great look. Touch screen buttons are awesome when your close enough. The upscaling HDMI is a must have! Many options on adjusting sound levels of speakers as well as output timing. Also has several different selectable output settings that are tweakable as well.
Cons: Speaker wire length leaves much to be desired....great for smaller rooms though!
Summary: i have the thd-5 model, but i don't see any difference in specs or looks. it's matched with a westinghouse 27" lcd hdtv (video connected via composite) and a hdtv dvr (audio connected via toslink). this is my first home theater in a box and am pleased i bought it (used, ridiculous deal, too).
Pros: upscaling dvd player and receiver in one (less clutter), pretty good sound. dvd player isn't all that bad either. loads of codecs supported. front usb for jump drives, and docking station for ipod.
Cons: analog input yields very low volumes. manual was a little confusing at times and was used for multiple models (thd-60, -50, -5, and another one), didn't like that. makes me want to upgrade my entertainment center (which i desperately need to do). upsets me when i have to watch tv in stereo becaus...
Summary: Good sound, can not complain for the price. Looks nice. I plugged in my iPod, played CDs, DVDs, Divx, MPEG-4. I am using it with a 57 inch Toshiba projection HDTV via component connection. Works great, lots of functionality. Remote is ok; could be more user friendly. Same for setup and manual.
