Decent mid-priced complete 5 disc stereo system

Lena, Massage Therapist, Amazon

  • Summary: I got this around 7/2006. I tried a Sony before that but myself, friends & family had trouble setting the menu choices so I brought that back. It did have great sound, but no S-Video which is unimaginable. This JVC is to replace my 9 year old 100 wt.

Like the TH-M303

  • Summary: I owned the former model TH-M303 that uses a majority (95%) of same components as this one. The former unit failed after 2.5 years of fairly constant use. Now I'll buy this newer model and keep the old equipment for parts.
  • Pros: Price is very reasonable. Disc changer feature is nice, plenty of hookups.
  • Cons: If the cooling fan in the subwoofer base fails, the amplifier may fail. As mentioned previously, wires for rear speakers will be too short, just add more for proper length.

JVC - Home Theater in a Box

Robert L. Schaub, Amazon
13 November 2006
  • Summary: The first unit I received worked for a hour and a half and then the sub-woofer malfunctioned. It is powered to an AC outlet and there was an electrical problem. Since all the other speakers are connected to the receiver through the sub-woofer, I had no sound.

Best System for the price

  • Summary: This is the best system for the price with 5 DVD changer. Great sound quality. Remote control is somewhat tricky. The speakers are designed very well. Goes with my Sony KDF 50A10 and decor. The sound is amazing!! I am happy with my purchase. 6ave.com for the best price.

Great value in the right spot

  • Summary: The amp is in the subwoofer unit, so the "receiver/player" unit is lightweight. This means speaker cables all must run to subwoofer which may be messy/inconvenient for some.
  • Pros: Great value, DTS/Dolby decoding, surprising sound, good inputs/outputs, disc changer, speaker customization settings, works well in small room (e.g. bedroom).
  • Cons: Hardwired speakers (cable may be too short for your application); remote not able to control my TV.
