Expensive paper weight

B. Johnson, Amazon
11 November 2014
  • Summary: Purchased last Christmas at Fry's for $199. It was difficult to set up with Samsung 55" HDTV. Tried everything. Researched, called customer support. Ended up going back to a set of Bose computer speakers that plugin through the headphone jack. Maybe i can pull the magnets out of the harmon speakers. otherwise its just an expensive paper weight. My advice is research before you buy.

Soundbar generated virtual surround sound is a joke if you only trust your ears.

Mrinmay M., Amazon
6 September 2014
  • Summary: I returned the product after using it for two days and replaced it with a Bose Acoustimass 10 with Onkyo Amp. No complaints about the product in particular. In addition I did not expect a soundbar create a surround sound which can match the real surround speakers but I had expected something better. The Blu-Ray movies and Youtube videos sounded Ok but audio CDs sounded pathetic. If anyone wants, just an improvement on his/her TV system. soundbars are OK.

don't get this. there are a bunch of better options.

Marco T, Amazon
30 November 2013
  • Summary: I got this sound bar as a discounted price when i bought my plasma TV. I have problems ever sine I got it. First, there is no remote, and trying to get the buttons programmed onto my universal remote was poorly designed and did not function properly. Eventually I figured out that the buttons weren't working and got the soundbar replaced. (Working thru the HK customer service group is another painful experience). The new sound bar also didn't work.

Warning--Issue on Audio Decoding Abilities on Optical Hook Up

Jimmah!, Amazon
1 June 2012
  • Summary: Wow, this units could have been amazing except for one key fatal flaw. Beware!!!! When I hooked it up to my TV, I wanted to use the Digital Optical link. I tried both the analog and digital. The digital sounded much better. In using the SB16, I realized it won't work for any of my digital TV channels(it worked for standard analog channels) via the optical link. In talking with both customer service for Harman Kardon and my TV manufacturer, the problem was clear.

(Tries to) operate over congested 2.4GHz WiFi .

Trevor Lien, Amazon
11 December 2011
  • Summary: Read Reviews before you buy! Awesome sound, horrible implimentation. When it works, it sounds great. Unfortunately, there are some un-recoverable flaws: 1- BIGGEST flaw - the wireless connection runs on 2.4GHz wi-Fi and requires a lot of bandwidth in spectrum that is all but used up in urban environments.
