  • Conclusion: Excellent audio quality and top-drawer upscaled HD visuals make this a worthy CD/DVD player/virtual surround sound system packed into a tiny compact shell. Even if charging 900 sheets seems a smidge excessive.
  • Pros: Finished in a grim gun-metal grey and built with the solidity and precision of a tank, Denon's micro system means business. It fires out top notch sonics from its two inconspicuous speakers, whether you’re spinning CDs or upscaling DVDs to 1080p. Stereo music sounds superb, with crisp bright mids and highs backed up by the ominously low bass notes - like an approaching murderer playing a bassoon in a minor key.   • Cons: ...but that's the least you should expect for something just shy of a grand. And that's why it's all the more disappointing there's no DAB radio or DVD-Audio/SACD playback. Also, while Denon bills this as a home cinema system, it can't quite match 5.1 surround sound - although the Dolby Virtual Speaker gives it a good go.
