Summary: This is a top of the line receiver that will work perfect in any medium to high end home theatre. Any home theatre buff is always looking for the best products to add into the mix so the sound and video creates the most incredible experience in our little part of the world. This receiver does the job. I have always been a Yamaha guy. I think the sound is powerful and the recreation has always been great without moving into companies such as lexicon, etc...
Summary: The Denon AVR 2308 CI is a fabulous receiver for music and the sound on movies is not bad at all. Recommend to use it with the Denon ASD 11r ipod docking station for best results. The receiver also supports HDMI. Use Apple lossless encoding with equaliser presets on the ipod. Use also a matrix DSP simulation with Audyssey equalisers for the receiver. My configuration is Denon AVR 2308 CI, Infinity TSS 800 speakers, ASD 11r dock connector. Happy listening.
Summary: Excelent product, purchased as a display model and the only issue was the remote rear cover was damaged ,so I bought a Logitech Harmony to replace it (much Improvement) the unit is easy to setup and produces some of the best sound I have ever heard from a AV recever. I have reviewed several and the only one I thought sounded even close good was a Sherwood Newcastle (all the pioneers where to easy to clip (power issues ) the yamahas where stout but flat for music, the...
Summary: This stereo is totally sweet. I personally didn't find it complicated to set up at all. I took it out of the box and had it all set up within an hour. The complicated remote doesn't bother me, because after it's all set up initially, all you are using it for is to switch inputs and adjust the volume. I took a couple of opportunities to really crank this thing up and at max volume I didn't hear any distortion whatsoever.
Summary: I upgrade to the Denon 2308 ci after inputs and outputs started to go out on my old Yamaha. As well as i wanted something that could handle some HDMI switching for when i upgrade my system to HD. I have been very pleased with this receiver and it has been a nice upgrade from my old Yamaha. Great sound and i am now getting allot more range out of my speakers.
Summary: The quality of the audio is excellent, far better than that of a very good Onkyo receiver that cost about twice much 13 years ago, which I've replaced with the Denon. I bought this Denon 2308CI largely to listen to music either on CDs or Apple TV. It matches nicely with my B&W DM602 S3 speakers, when bi-amped. I'm very pleased with the result. I also use this for playing DVDs and watching HD channels with digital audio.
Summary: (This review was written about the nearly identical AVR 888.) Reviews on other sites lauded the build quality and quality of the power this unit puts out but warned about a shoddy manual and remote control. Those comments were right on both counts, but understated how difficult it is to program this this unit due to the manual and remote, which are both POS.
Summary: I've owned Denon equipment for years and loved them but after this I will never buy another. Other reviewers can say what they want but this was the most complicated piece of equipment to hook up I've ever seen. We finally had to hire a professional to hook the machine up and now can't seem to get our new OPPO DV-981 DVD player to sync up with it. I know I'm old fashioned but what happened to bass, mid-range and treble or loudness.
Summary: The sound is amazing on this unit, but oh... the SETUP!! The wiring on the back isn't the bad part, it's figuring out how to program this BEAST! There is no more "spin to the left" for left channel or right for right channel, no preset buttons for AM/FM and no push button selectors for function. It's super-digitized, everything is a pull down menu with on-screen selections. Also, setting up "Zone 2" is annoying.
Summary: I was apprehensive about the trouble I would have setting this up since we have an earlier Denon at my father's beach house. No one can figure out how to configure the Denon in the beach house. (sorry, I don;t know the model number). This one.... on the other hand, was quite easy to set up. This is the least expensive Denon that uses full hdmi switching including audio. Many of the receivers in the $500 range from yahama and pioneer don';t. Don't buy them.
