sounds great but no night mode
1 April 2014
Summary: This thing is awesome, but there is no night mode. If you're unfamiliar, it's a one-button audio setting that silences the bass notes and adjusts the mid-tones and treble so that you can use the system without waking up your roommates and neighbors. It's no more complicated to program such a thing than it is to program "classical" and "hard rock" equalizer settings.
Summary: I knew when I bought it would be a challenge to get it to work with my remote. After about an hour or so I got to work and we just love it. It makes the TV sound clear and we were to turn the volume down to tolerable level.
Summary: A week ago, I purchased the Boston Acoustics TVee 25 from Amazon. I did not want the bulk of a true surround sound with wires so I purchased this system which I have hooked up to a Samsung 46" HDTV. The product arrived in excellent condition. Packaging was superb. I hooked up the system to my TV with the provided optical digital cable for superior sound compared to the enclosed RCA analog (red & white) cables. Everything was easy UNTIL programming the remotes.
Summary: This is a great value and is an easy setup. I use it with my 32 inch flat panel TV in a medium sized family room. The subwoofer is powerful. If you turn it up too far, it washes out the midtones. The subwoofer also gets hot when left on for several hours. I do not use the subwoofer for normal TV viewing. I turn it on for recorded music and video for which it adds an amazing amount of depth and warmth.
Summary: Many of the reviews for this are pretty detailed so I'll just add to some of the previous statements. First, as far as programming the remote goes I'm not sure if it's dependent on the specific remote but for my tivo HD the remote programming took all of maybe 5 minutes, easy as could be. Just make sure you follow directions and it should not be difficult.
Easy to plug in, sounds great! Sticker problem solved.

Summary: I bought the BA TVee 25 because my wife, who is 61, has a hard time hearing our TV set. We watch a lot of British stuff, and the accents really muddy the waters, but we love the way they do movies and TV. So, if we have subtitles, OK. If not, she has a hard time. I received my order way before I thought I would, although I ordered regular delivery via Stereo Advantage on Amazon.
Summary: For those that complained that they have trouble with the volume control because the grill covers the reciever, just call boston acoustics up and they will ship you a new grill that has been upgraded to address the control problem. I just got mine in today and it has a dark translucent plastic around the buttons that solves the remote problem.
Are you kidding me with this STICKER? Never even powered it up!

Summary: I'm sure it's a great unit, good price, likely works well.....IF NOT FOR THE 4-INCH BY 4-INCH STICKER ADHERED TO THE FRONT OF THE UNIT!!!! I had seen/read/heard about this issue with prior reviews, and I figured either a) BA would have fixed this issue by now or b) it wasnt as bad as I had read from other reviewers. I spent one hour plus trying to remove the sticker, and it was totally impossible as it is embedded in the pinholes on the FACE OF THE UNIT.
