The Bose Cinemate gs 2 is a 2.1 system. Many reviews try to compare this to 5.1 or 7.1 channel sound systems. In certain setup it may can immitate 5.1. Remember now sound is as much subjective as it is Scentific. We can all hear a certain level of sound, but how we each experience it is completely different. I feel Bose has a really clear sound and pretty tight bass at low frequencies sound. Now keep in mind again this is subjective. Also people love to compare it at the original $799 price tag. Well its normal price is now $599. and is currently on sale at $539. Do i think at those prices its worth it yes. $799 was a bit much. The pros of the system is as follows ease of use and installation. Great sound. A con is that it doesnt process DTS. Its not a killer at all as the sound it reproduces is really nice with all types of media Tv, videogames, movies, music etc. People love to bash bose but again sound and what servies your needs is subjective to individual preference and experiences. If you are an audiophile that just lives for the sound measurements and frequency ranges to get that "ideal sound" Then you have missed the whole point of having a surround system in the first place. Its to enjoy the sound not always worry about the science behind it. I wonder how many audiophiles go to live venues performances as such. Sound varies by in or outdoor performances. Treated walls or open fields. Not eveything is going to be that perfect frequency. It almost makes it unrealistic. I think Bower and Wilkins is a great speaker company as well. Id recommend them too. Ultimately i think these are worth it for value and quality and what bose provides. Many people dislike and or extremely hate bose. Every company has their faults. I write this because i have compared their speakers side by side to others and for me they seem mors crisp in audio reproduction of all kinds of media. Even the acoustimass module sounded more responsive then my other suboofer. To cut to the chase id recommend it whole heartedly

I previously had bought a Onkyo HT-S9400 the system was unbelievable best sound i ever heard powerfull just perfect. If it wasnt from the fact that 7 speakers all over with wires laying everyware destroyed the esthical house cachet. If you can manage to hide everything than g with the Onkyo. If you want nice clean sound and you really want to hear voices well without all the wires and huge subs and 6 speakers to predominate in your room than the choie is clear go with bose. I got mine from Amazon.ca for 699$ instead of 850$ which makes alot more sence to me.
