Altec Lansing XA 3051 Speaker Review

  • Conclusion: - The Altec Lansing XA3051's came out to play.  The sound quality was superb than both the Altec 5100'a and the 2100's combined.  The sound quality of the Altec Lansing XA3051's make up for the lack of support it brings to the three game console on the market.  The construction of the unit was also good with only a few problems such as the cable wire of the rear of one of the satellites not in properly.  Also I did not like the background noises the system gave off.
  • Pros: Sound quality is AWESOME, Construction, Price-performance-ratio, Remote is cool, Increased driver numbers, Did I say sound is awesome?

  • Summary: The best thing about these speakers is the price. At a retail price of $99, (I found them for $60 on PriceWatch) you are getting a incredible deal. These speakers will fill up your room with crisp clear sounds and make your DVD collection sound like they are meant to sound. Sure there is no Dolby Digital/DTS support, but for the price you are getting the next best thing. I am really impressed with these speakers and they have taken pride of place in my living room.
  • Pros: Superb sound quality, Dolby Pro Logic for less than $100, DVD sounds amazing through these, Works with all your videogames, DVD, TV, PC, Build quality is superb, Nice Package
  • Cons: No wireless remote control, Not Digital sound, Design is a love or hate thing

  • Excerpt: Although not a true 5.1 surround speaker system, it definitely has its advantages. For one, you don't need a 6 channel surround sound card to use this on your computer if you go and pick up an adapter, and this could save you a quite a bit of money.

Nintendo World Report
7 February 2003
  • Summary: We received Altec Lansing's premiere video game audio package -- the XA3051, a 100 watt 5.1 speaker system with Dolby Surround Pro Logic support that can not only intensify your video game enjoyment, but also give new life to your music & DVD player.
  • Pros: Can also be used for regular TV viewing, VCRs, DVD, CD, MP3 players, etc., Excellent upgrade from basic TV and stereo speakers., Includes a handy remote to control all aspects of the system., Includes almost all cables you’ll ever need, and very long ones at that., It’s 100 watt Dolby Surround Pro Logic, dude., Reasonable price/performance ratio
  • Cons: No Aux cable., Power brick may dangle due to the short cable., The subwoofer and speaker grills stick out like a sore thumb.
