Summary: Set this up and within a few days it quit working, power shut down and couldn't turn it back on! It simply quit! Thankfully the seller accepted its return. Also, it's bulky and heavy for its intended purpose as compared to most other sound bars.
Summary: The sound was great while it lasted. Yes it is big and bulky, but the sound was great for my TV and MP3 player. A week ago, it would just not power on. When turning the unit on, there was a brief, dim blink of red led, then nothing. I am disappointed in the longevity. I would be pi$$ed if I had paid retail, but $99 for 4 years service is not too tragic. Now to find another deal. RIP PT7031.
Summary: The sound bar had the A/V inputs that we needed for our new TV to hook up to our older DVD player, Non HD cable box and VCR. The size was a bit overwhelming. Based on the descriptions people said it could be placed in front of the TV or mounted on the wall. The height of the bar was prohibitive to being placed in front of the TV as it blocked the signal recievers on the TV. Wall mounting wasn't an option as the room gets rearranged every few months.
Good sound, bad remote! Does not use standard code.

Summary: I wish someone had written this before I bought this. The good: It sounds great compared to the TV speakers. It does what I wanted which was to not sit with the TV remote adjusting the volume when people were talking, for commercials, etc. The bad: It doesn't work with universal remotes. Altec Lansing used Toshiba TV codes for the remote. Even using those codes, I am unable to program my DirectTV remote to use the volume buttons on the sound bar.
Summary: First I was amazed this unit was still available. I've had one for several years and it just died. I was expecting to wait 10 or more days and I think I got it in 3. Very well packaged and works great. You dont know how much you miss it till you have to go back to TV speakers. Thank you to everyone involved.
Save you money and do not buy this product if you want surround sound

Summary: The Altec Lansing PT7031 Speaker System is certainly not worth anything over $100. I paid $100 for it so I can live with it but the sound quality is poor and the bass is horrible. The unit is very large and heavy. Remote is awkward and user interface is not great either. I would not recommend this product.
Summary: Although our flat screen had built-in speakers - it was always lacking. We tried using the stereo but, the output from the TV was optical ... now we have sound for DVD's and TV programs. Yay !!
Summary: Since it is a bit old product it doesn't have the ability to connect to computers so if your television is big screen that connect to your computer this item can't help you before you buy it check the wire
Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK!!! Altec Lansing will not fix these when they break--AND THEY WILL BREAK!--or will they even tell you who can!!! I made the mistake of buying one 1 1/2 years ago. It just stopped working! Won't even power-up! Altec Lansing says that they do not support them!!! RIP-OFF!!! LOSER CORPORATION!!! I WARNED YOU!!!
