Summary: I was looking for a stereo receiver or home theater system, compatable with Bose 901 Series VI active equilizer. This was not easy. I basically just want to use this receiver for playing music in my home. The Harman Kardon HK 3490 met my criteria and was on sale.
Summary: I bought this to power 6 pairs of speakers on my house boat and found that using just one of the two channels provides enough power for all twelve speakers. My installation guy was impressed with receiver and its features.
Excerpt: i was fortunate to buy a pair of bose 901speakers during my visit in las vegas the denon receiver pushed the 901 bose with clean authority i made use of the sub output boy was i in for a treat the libary room was rocking i thought i was at a live concert believe me this thing putts out lotts of power enough to make the books fall of the shelf.
Summary: I use this for music only. I've owned two h/k's before this one. I have to say, I thought there would be a much larger improvement in sound with the denon. The highs are not as bright as I would like them to be. However, the overall sound is much more defined and it retains its clairity even at high volumes. The signal to the sub is adjustable! This ensures getting the best sound from your sub, and something that is usually only found in a/v receivers.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Clean Sound, Durable, Easy To Set Up, Good Power
