Summary: I've had a stereo surround sound system with no subwoofer for years. My small, cape cod style living room has plaster walls and hardwood floors, so I knew I didn't need anything large. I just wanted to add a little bass without breaking the bank. This speaker is GREAT. It has it's own power switch and volume control for perfect balancing.
Summary: I use this sub with a pair of psb Alpha powered speakers which have a tap for a subwoofer. I liked the small speakers but they were definitely lacking in bass. I don't need huge thumping bass, so I skipped the 12-inch version of this speaker. With a simple connection (long wire with RCA plugs at each end), I was up and running in no time.
Summary: Lets clear things right away. This should not be your first choice for ground rumbling bass. For that, you would probably want something a little bigger. This is, however a perfect choice for those of us who live in apartments and don't wont to get on the bad side of our neighbors. Remember though, bass travels through walls easier than other higher frequencies.
Summary: I paired this subwoofer with a Vizio SB4020E-A0 sound bar and they work great and sound amazing together. I set the volume knob on the back of the subwoofer to 75% and control the volume through my sound bar's remote control.. Very nice. Bass is pretty impressive for an 8 inch woofer. Movies and television sound great and so does music playback. It isn't real punchy on music's bass drum but it certainly rattles the windows if cranked up.
Summary: I wanted asubwoofer to add to the sound bar I recently bought for my flatscreen. I was shopping for a one with great reviews for asmall price and this one seemed to be the budget end favorite so I got one. It has great bass and as I live in a small apartment I have to frequently remind myself to turn down it down. I imagine its possible my neighbors may notlike chest rumbling, bone rattling bass like I do. This is really a great piece of equipment.
Summary: Initially thought about sending it back as it had a steady 60 cycle hum that was driving me crazy. I read other reviews and tried a Monster high priced subwoofer cable instead of the cable that came with it. Problem solved! I'm speculating that the mass of electrical cables behind my TV interfered with the signal sent to the subwoofer, so a more "shielded" cable worked better. Others may or may not have a similar problem.
Summary: I have this little sub matched up with a sound bar and it does the trick for sure. I have it up about half way, more than that and it overpowers the rest of the music and movies. Great price and very decent sound for entry level sub.
Summary: I needed to replace my older Yamaha sub (that was a bit smaller) and I came across this one. I read many reviews and purchased it. I am very happy with this purchase and the bass is tremendous. If your in the market to upgrade or first purchase you can not go wrong with this amplified subwoofer.
