Excerpt: I use this system with my new tv. The sound is great for the dollar. I mainly watch sports and game. I also listen the tuner with it during the day too. Its great in sound quality in all of these uses.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Set Up, Good Power Output, Great Sound Quality
Summary: I was shopping to upgrade my home theater audio system from a 8 year old all-in-one box system that had a passive sub. My main criteria were a budget below $500, reputable brand with state-of-the-market specs, and good ratings. I opted for a Yamaha RX-V373 receiver and this sub. This sub caught my eye on an amazon.com search because of its favorable price point and very positive reviews.
Summary: This is only the second subwoofer I've owned. The first was a non-powered unit with a 12" downward-firing driver. It was disappointing to say the least, maybe because I was trying to push it with a 40 watt per channel amp. My current amp has double that power, but I knew I wanted a powered unit that allowed me to adjust the relative volume of the subwoofer vs. the main speaker output. I have a small listening area and don't need a lot of power.
